10th Ed – First Look at Legends

Hi all,
As I am sure many of you anticipated a host of new models are headed to the legends section of the rule with the release of 10th. We got a few surprises here, but many makes sense. Sadly, the Forge World lineup has been largely gutted.

For the Space Marines, the changes to the Sternguard and Terminators makes sense, but the loss of the Box-naut is sad.

Forge World has culled a massive amount of models, with several being competitive staples in the last few years:

Looks like all of the old Space Marine chapter masters are going away, sad for Tyberos and what it means for the Charcharodons. It looks like GW really doesn’t want any more surprised from Forge World models screwing up their balance updates.

Some of these Greater Daemon kits don’t surprise me, the Keeper of Secrets is a nightmare to build. Losing the Hellblade and Talon stings a bit as they were some of the more aircraft-y of the Chaos flyers.

Ouch the poor Necrons are losing two of their most iconic, and effective units. The Night Shroud Bomber was always one of my favorite Necron units. the Nids losing the Dima is also big as that thing had a dominating role for a while in competitive 40k. It’s interesting to see that there are no Tau models here.

It also looks like some minis that were already in legends will be getting one-time updated rules!

If anything this pretty much announces the end of Forge World products as a force n the competitive side of the hobby. It’s been a bit sad to watch what once was the prestige arm of GW be gutted down to a shell, although this has opened up a lot of plastic kits. Only a few of these surprise me, but it’s a somber day nonetheless.
