As a new CD player myself, I have been looking forward to this. Let’s see how GW is trying to differentiate the multitudinous forces of the warp!
The first glimpse of the rules we get gives us some tidbits. All units have invulnerable saves (Daemon saves are gone, thank the Emperor), and all units can deep strike. Their faction ability is as follows:
This is a pretty good set of abilities that opens up some questions about synergies with CSM. You will dominate low battleshock units with this ability, but you need to fight for the mid-boards in order to spread the warp. This ability will also vary wildly based on the amount of objectives on the board. Speaking of the CSM, we also get to see some new allied detachment stipulations for the forces of chaos:
We also get to see a detachment ability fpr the Daemonic Incursion detachment:
Assuming you can still charge, this is a very strong ability. However, we do know there might be the chance to over-watch in the movement phase.
For the profiles we get those for a Keeper of Secrets and Belakor!
Be’lakor has lost his penalties to wound him but can only be targeted if within 18″ (if you choose that ability. He also has the “Stealth” ability which likely has a negative to-hit modifier but may have some other stipulations as the Keeper of Secrets has a permanent -1 to be hit but no “Stealth” ability. Stealth might just affect ranged combat. The Keeper’s Extra Attacks rule shows that you can only attack with one profile in melee unless you have that rule.
For the weapons previews we see those for Khorne and Nurgle
Finally, we get the stratagm spotlight for the CD:
This is a very good ability and it looks like sticky objectives will be more common now. I wonder if they want to reduce the number of camping units to force more dynamic games?
