Now that we have finished, melting down over the Space Marine rules, let’s look at the nids!
The first big change is to the Tyranid trait, giving them an ability to lesson the impact of battleshock tests (very similar to the old Lizardman rules in Fantasy!)
Now synapse range is drastically reduced so you need to really bundle your bugs. But wait! There’s more! It looks like Deny the Witch is now gone neccesitating a new ability:
This is pretty crazy and can really cripple some armies! Low Ld. units need to be careful as this can be hard to recover from if you can’t hold objectives or use stratagems!
We also get to see the new Genestealers!
They are back to swarming attacks, but their AP and damage is much lower. They do get some re-rolls but will struggle vs high toughness unit. But that’s okay, if you want to get rid of high-toughness units you get a…..
What a beast, that new psychic attack looks great, although we don’t know what torrent does. It also seems that these monsters don’t degrade any more. It also looks like certain units will have a larger synapse range as this guy has a 9″ range on his ability. It still looks like this guy might struggle to crack open a vehicle though, I wonder if the Tyrannofex might be of use?

Finally, we get confirmation of how GW will handle the endless swarms of the nids. This strat looks like a good way to bring back some ablative wounds although, you need to be careful about battle shock!
