Hi all,
We got a cool look at the other new warband coming to Underworlds in a few weeks. Ephilim’s Pandaemonium are a very bizarre warband that has some weird tricks.
To start things off, each round you go through the following steps as part of Tzeentch’s plots:
All of the models, aside from Ephilim, are changers so you have some utility here. Just be careful how you assign the roles. Staggering does make you quite vulnerable. If you play against this warband, know that they can move a model each round so plan accordingly!
This warband is quite squishy but has some neat tricks. It’s funny to note that inspiration doesn’t really benefit these models much, most just getting an additional defense die. These models are a big toolbox that you can use to dictate how your opponent operates (especially the Warpsplash ability). They may be difficult to keep on the board as they have such low health hand are very vulnerable to certain ranged builds.
As you would expect, their power cards give this warband a few more tricks. The buff to attack dice is huge especially if you can bunch up. I still feel this warband is vulnerable to getting their leader shot off the board, but the new Salvage ability helps with that.
Their victory cards are also quite interesting
I like the Nine Fates card as it gives you an interesting wrinkle that can sneak up on your opponent. The ability to boost these points by meeting other conditions is also a nice way to reward clever players, although you can be at the mercy of RNG for Rampant Spellcasting.
Ephilim’s Pandaemonium strike me as a very technical warband that may be difficult for new players to understand. You have to really think about their abilities and use them carefully given how squishy they are. Free access to Guard tokens is nice but that can constrain as much as help you. They may have some reviving ability which would go a long way in evening the scales.
