AMG is previewing Children of Mandalore, the newest organized play kit for Star Wars: X-Wing, coming to a store near you in late May.
Organized Play kits are a way to drum up interest for games at local stores by giving them a unique play experience to offer on location. The kit is not going to be commercially available, but there are some take-home goodies for those that go to a store to play it. Let’s take a look at what exactly this kit offers.
Children of Mandalore is meant to be a casual, accessible event for stores to run over the course of an afternoon. It comes with two unique scenarios where players will take on the roles of “Aggressor” and Protector.” When building their squads, players will select none non-limited ship to become a Child of Mandalore, giving them the Mandalorian keyword, a missile upgrade slot and 10 additional Loadout Value. They will also need to assign their Child of Mandalore either the Tradition of War or the Tradition of Peace.
The OP Kit comes with two scenarios for the players to battle through. The first is a fight over Beskar caches. The Protector is trying to recover the caches by towing them away and the Aggressor is trying to stop them. In the second scenario the Protector is protecting a convoy of cargo shuttles that the Aggressor is trying to destroy. All in all, these look pretty fun!
Participants that play through the scenarios at their local shop will receive all the materials needed to play both scenarios as a take home gift. That’s scenario cards, a sheet of punch-out counters, the two Traditions cards, and a “full-art promo” Clan Training upgrade card. Does this mean there will a “limited-art” version in the future? Anyway, not a bad haul just for playing a game at your local shop.
Are you going to hound your local shop into picking up this Organized Play kit, like I am about to? What ship are you going to make a Child of Mandalore? Let me know in the comments!
