Apocalypse Battle Report – Legacy

Hi all,
Here is the battle report from my last apoc battle I ran on April 1st. It was a fun event that came right down to the wire. If you want to see the rules you can see them here!

Set up:
As things got rolling we had two teams of three players each. All had 5k armies with two have 7.5K. For the objectives we had 4 wishing to Defame and 2 Proclaiming. The teams were equally split on kill/preserve.

Deployment:
As per the mission rules, the attackers deployed 50% of their forces first, then the defenders fully deployed. The defenders then went through the ambush mini game I set up. Oddly, the Tau attacker deployed pretty far forward, obviously he was trying to save the Saint by triggering the ambush early. The defenders had 2 moves due to the ambush rules (the Saint didn’t go far, even rolling triple 1’s for one move!). The ambush was triggered when a Space Marine speeder stumbled onto a Tau Ghostkeel

Turn 1:

The attackers move up with most of their units out of range. They do manage to blow up the Mastadon and inflict a few other casualties. The Tau player brings in a bunch of suits that do a medium amount of damage before getting bullied by the Space Marines. Combined shooting takes down the Tesseract Vault. There are no betrayals and the Defamers complete their action on three objectives and the Proclaimers complete their action on two objectives. The Saint moves up a bit but is still too far to be seen.
Defame: 3
Proclaim: 2

Turn 2:

Everyone brings in their reserves, Deathwing termis deepstrike in one of the attacker deployment zones and a host of monoliths come in. Shooting sees a lot of vehicles killed with the Tau down to a handful of models, and the Dark Angels lose a lot to Nid Shooting. One of the big Necron beasts goes down, as do a number of Monoliths and all the Space Marine Dreads. There are still no betrayals, but the Proclaimers manage to complete their action three times while the Defamers only do so once.

Defame: 4
Proclaim: 5

Turn 3:
The wheels kinda come off for the attackers here. The Saint moves into charge range of the Nids but he wants the Saint alive and so pulls back. Shooting sees most of the Necron monoliths killed and the Tyranid bugs get decimated. The betrayals begin. The Proclaimers are on three objectives as are the Defamers. The Defamer Astra Millitarum player shoots a teammate off of one objective, and brings a Deathwing Termi unit that was also proclaiming on another down to a single model. Whittled down by shooting, the Necron player charges the lone Deathwing Terminator with his Seraptek Heavy Construct. The construct is badly damaged, but hits and wounds with 3 of its 6 attacks. The lone Deathwing Sgt. passes two 5+ invs but fails the third. The Dark Angel player opts to use his last command point to re-roll it getting a “5” and saving the unit, and his team. This, coupled with a charge by the Deathwing Champion to clear the objective of Defamers, gives the Proclaimers a narrow victory!
Final:
Defame: 6
Proclaim: 7

Transhuman for days!

With the end of the game in hand we discovered that the Tau player did want the Saint dead he just massively misplayed it. Had he pulled back his forces they would have had a shot at killing him. Other than that it was a pretty tight game all around. There were a number of betrayals at the end and the players had fun.

The Saint and his legacy are (relatively safe) and will impact our future narratives. If you would like to see all the remaining pictures i put them in a gallery below!

Enjoy!
