We have another doozy of a reveal on the Warhammer community site today! In this article we will dive into the changes to turn structure, psychic powers and morale!
The first major change deals with the psychic phase. It is gone! Now you resolve psychic powers in specific phases based on their text. Let’s see what this looks like:
The Librarian’s power only affects his squad which is interesting. Also the change to smite might mean it is locked to certain units, and no longer does mortal wounds. It looks like psychic powers might only be risky if you overcharge them or meet certain conditions (like the Weirdboy).
The other major change in this article deals with morale. You now take battle shock tests for every unit below half strength in the command phase.
The article also uses the wording “morale is no longer just a casualty multiplier.” meaning the old morale impacts might still exist too. Another unanswered question is if you take these battle-shock tests at the start of each command phase or just after they drop below half? If this is in addition to the casualty impacts of morale and is taken each turn then maybe, just maybe, Night Lord morale shenanigans might mean something.
If this replaces the casualty mechanic, I am not convinced this will make much of a difference as so few units failed morale tests already.
