Warhammer the Old World – Base Sizes Revealed!

Hi all!
Happy Friday, we got another big update for a GW property getting a new edition today! There has been a major reveal around the Old World and it’s a little controversial!

The first update is that they are bringing back many of the older kits, including the Bretonnians at launch. In order to make it a little easier for players to start these armies, they also gave us a reason why Brets would share a similar color scheme. If you thought you had to paint each knight in a unique way, you have a lore-friendly reason not to.

Brets also get special rules for Exile and Crusade armies. The first are dishonored knights, the second are bands of knights gathering for a special quests.

Basing:

The other major update is that the base sizes for most units are changing. All 20mm bases are getting re-scaled to 25mms with many of the others bases also getting resized. This new size will be required for events, but there are a lot of ways around this. Expect to see conversion clips, spaced trays etc. This is the kind of change 3d printing was made to help with so I am sure there will be many affordable options.

I think this change was inevitable given the larger models and it does open up a lot of newer models for use in the Old World. I am already thinking of how to use the mortal Hedonites units in an army.
