Hi all,
We got some more tidbits of information about how 10th ed will work! In today’s article GW broke down several aspects of the new datasheets, and their impacts.
The first update is the OC stat. Objective Control is the stat that determines who controls an objective. Old units that were troops now have a higher value making them more capable of holding objectives. From what we see in this sample datasheet, the number is “2” for the Intercessors, which I worry is a little low. The old Ob. Sec rule was nice as a single model could take an objective held by an elite squad. I don’t know if such a low value will convince people to take the troops when it maybe easier just to focus on killing them off an objective.
Leadership has been updated so now you need to roll over the listed value. Failing these rolls has impacts on a unit’s abilities, stratagem use, and role. GW has struggled to make morale meaningful for a while and this might be the ticket. Giving battle-shock the ability to impact more than just casualties may make fear-based armies more viable.
As mentioned earlier, the to-hit roll is tied to the weapon and note the profile of the bearer. I am curious how they will develop this as I feel there are way too many units hitting on 2+ and this might be how they simplify things. Thankfully, Strength and Toughness work as in 9th edition. I do worry that his will make things more complex if there are a bunch of different hitting profiles in one unit. We will see as more rules are released.
