Hi all,
The big man is back and angrier than ever in the 41st millennium. The rules for the Lion are obviously designed to be a bit different than his brother so let’s see how GW has designed him!
Well let’s hope these rules don’t indicate how things in 10th will be less lethal. The Lion has a great set of attacks and will gut most of his enemies. He can do, roughly 12 wounds to a knight in combat! I am not sure why anything needs to be AP -5 with AOC gone but it doesn’t hurt! I think he will be ideally suited for going against elite infantry and hordes with his option for 20 attacks!
He is also much more sneaky then Robute with the ability to deepstrike and re-roll the result. This also meshes well with Deathwing veterans!
Finally he gets his own peice of the Emperor’s gear with a special shield. Having only a 4++ is a bit odd, but he can reflect damage on a save roll of a “6”.
I think the Lion will operate like a mini nuke, you drop him in to kill a target which he will do pretty reliably. He is quite squishy though so you can’t let him go alone. I think they will likely ditch this profile when 10th rolls around, or the changes to lethality may be not as drastic as some have hoped. As I anticipated, he is more of a killer than Robute but it remains to be seen how he will buff the army around him. The other major question is what will his points value be?
