As we continue our series through the Old World’s armies it’s time to look at the nefarious Warriors of Chaos! These guys were always a very popular faction but one that had a large range and some very good units. Many of your core options have persisted through to AoS but a few notable ones have not.
Old Range:
Like the Empire a large number of your units made the jump from 8th edition to Age of Sigmar. You cna still get chariots, most generic heroes, marauders etc. The newer units can rank up with some forethought and there are a bunch of new sculpts you can include. If you want Chaos Ogres? well the Ogroid Theridons are a great fit! Really the main losses are the Hellcannon (which is a shame as it was amazing) and Forsaken (which I have never seen taken). You lost a lot of HQ’s like Throgg which stings, but these can be easily converted.
Current Options:
There aren’t a lot of non-3rd party options to replace the Hellcannon, sadly. You might be able to kitbash something depending on your confidence level. Forsaken can be some of the warbands for warcry, but you might have some issues ranking them up. Really, your biggest issue will be finding ways to replace certain characters and learning how to rank up the new units on square bases. This is a pretty good spot to be in as Old World armies go.
