Hi All,
We will be assessing the upcoming boarding patrols to see which are the best deal for players, and which have the most value. Let’s dive right in!
Adepta Sororitas
Included:
- Cannoness $40
- 5 Celestian Sacresants $60
- 9 Sisters Repentia w/ Repentia Superior $60
- 10x Battle Sisters $60
Anticipated price: $130
Anticipated Savings: $90
Assessment: This seems like a pretty good value and a good buy to go with their combat patrol. It will push you to the melee sisters build, as you will have two squads of Repentia, but also gives you a lot of flexibility in your force. For established players there isn’t a whole lot here. You will likely have most of these models already. However, you might be able to convert a few characters if you are clever.
Adeptus Custodes
Included:
- Captain-General Trajann Valoris $45
- 3x Allarus Custodians $60
- 5x Custodian Guards: $60
Anticipated Cost: $130
Anticipated Savings: $35
Assessment: This box is a little odd, I might recommend this to newer players who are looking to start Custodes, instead of buying the combat patrol. If this is $130, it’s $30 cheaper and contains less fat. Sure you will miss out on the bikes, but you also won’t have any extra Sisters of Silence hanging about. You can put the extra $30 towards getting some bikes or some other project. As above, this will be a better deal for newer Custodes players but if you don’t have Trajann yet this isn’t a bad way to get him.
Thousand Sons
Included:
- 20x Rubric Marines $60 ea. $120 total
- 2x Spawn $55
Anticipated Cost: $130
Anticipated Savings: $45
Assessment: Well I guess we figured out where Games Workshop decided to just give up. This box is so strange. Pretty much everyone else gets a HQ but apparently that was too much to ask here. The Death Guard combat patrol is listed at $115 and it wouldn’t surprise me if this gets a similar price tag. What this boarding patrol does pair well with is the combat patrol which mostly gives you all the Tzaangors you never wanted. This boarding patrol can at least round out your forces a bit.
Conclusion:
Poor Thousand Sons players. Can they get a decent boxed set for just once? At least it doesn’t have more Tzaangors. In hindsight the Sororitas box looks like the best deal of the bunch. A wider array of useful units that can benefit most collections. Most of these do well when paired with a Combat Patrol (or for the Custodes, in lieu of). If you aren’t convinced of the value, don’t forget that you can get these deals at an even lower price on the FLGN store!
