So we just got the news about the next two boarding patrols going up for sale. Let’s take a look at their contents and see how they stack up. Past patrols have come in around $110 so we will judge their value too.
Craftworlds
Interestingly you have as many non-craftworld units (technically) as you do Craftworlders in this box
- Jain Zarr $42
- Howling Banshees $60
- 2x Corsair Killteam $60 ea.
- Total savings over retail: $112
This is an interesting box because it has a weird mix of units. I guess they needed to get rid of some Jain Zarr minis. This box can be a good way to flesh out your Eldar collection although the Corsair forces are still a bit of an odd unit in Corsair rosters.
Drukhari
- Succubus $27
- 2x Wych Squad $38 ea.
- Incubi $60
- Total savings over retail: $53
There are several weird things here. Firstly, there are no characters unlike in other patrols. I was almost certain we would see Lelith or Drazhar. At the same time this box is a pretty good pick up if you want to flesh out a combat patrol box. Wyches aren’t as good as they used to be, but Incubi are still decent and, when mixed with a patrol, gives you a good starting variety of forces. At the same time, you can probably find wyches much cheaper on eBay so your mileage may vary.
I think both of these boxes provide a niche for their factions. I am drawn to the Craftworld one as I do need to pick up more Corsairs. What do you think? Anything else odd jump out to you?
