Atomic Mass games previews their new character for Marvel: Crisis Protocol, releasing soon.
Emma Frost is a powerful telepathic mutant who can use her abilities to control the minds of her opponents. She also has the ability to transform her skin into diamond-like form, which gives her increased durability and the ability to use her physical strength to greater effect. In the game, she is likely to be a high-value target for the opponent due to her powerful abilities, so players may need to protect her or use her wisely. Additionally, her complex and sometimes villainous background from the comics may be represented in her in-game abilities and playstyle, making her a unique and potentially challenging character to play with.
Most commonly associated with the X-Men, she is a former villain and member of the Hellfire Club, later becoming a member of the X-Men and one of the team’s most powerful telepaths. She has the ability to transform her skin into diamond-like form, giving her increased durability and the ability to use her physical strength to greater effect. Emma Frost is a complex character with a checkered past, who has sometimes served as an antagonist to the X-Men, but has also been a valuable member of the team.
Emma Frost in Marvel Crisis Protocol is a telepathic and telekinetic mutant who has several abilities:
- Hands Off: An attack at Strength 8 and Range 3 directly into an opponent’s Mystic defense.
- Reactive Shield Mind: A power that allows Emma to defend an ally character within Range 4 from being affected by enemy Mystic effects or superpowers.
- Telekinetic Deflection: A power that allows Emma to deflect incoming debris for 2 Power and protect herself from harm.
- Power Inhibition: Prevents reactive superpowers or Team Tactic Cards from being used during Emma’s Activation.
- Diamond Form: A secondary mutant ability that turns Emma into a nigh-indestructible organic diamond.
- Enhanced Strength: Emma has enhanced strength in Diamond Form.
- Sometimes One Must Get Their Hands Dirty: Emma can hurl a terrain feature at her foes.
- Diamond Strike: An up-close attack that can stun and pierce enemies.
- Shatter: An Area 2, Strength 7 explosion of psionic diamond that can apply Pierce to enemies with a Critical.
Her Diamond Form ability is a secondary mutant ability that she can activate when targeted by an enemy attack. This transformation turns her body into nigh-indestructible organic diamond, and provides her with several benefits and drawbacks.
While in Diamond Form, Emma is immune to Mystic attacks and superpowers, and adds Blanks to her defense rolls against all Mystic attacks. She also gains Immunity to Bleed, Incinerate, Poison, and Stun, making her difficult to take down. On the other hand, being in Diamond Form restricts Emma’s abilities and she can’t use any of her telepathic abilities or play any Team Tactic Cards.
The enhanced strength and durability offered by her diamond body allows her to use a Diamond Strike, a close-range melee attack that deals Stun and Pierce damage, and Shatter, a devastating Area 2 explosion of psionic diamond that deals Pierce damage to enemies.
That’s all we have for the preview, however there’s more coming about the white queen coming soon from Atomic Mass Games.
