Bad Moon on the Rise – Gloomspite Gitz

Looks like the latest teaser for the new Gloomspite Gitz just dropped. Let’s see what’s inside! If you want to get a jump on all the meta-breaking units this book will unleash, feel free to jump on over to the FLG store.

Well that’s a new spell to add to the top of the – must dispel list! Being able to somewhat reliably (if it doesn’t get dispelled) generate 4-5 mortal wounds a turn is great! It does look like this spell is locked to Skragrott though.

The Squig Hoppers get a massive boost! At first this looks like a small change but it makes the hoppers significantly more reliable. The average result for 3D6 is 11 which is now your minimum move. While you lose the max movement of 18″ the increased reliability is much appreciated. Sad that your hoppers aren’t hitting much harder?

Well that will fix any lack of combat punch quite nicely. It’s also great that the unit just has to be within 3″ meaning that you don’t need to crowd a large unit of hoppers around the Squigboss to make sure it goes off. It’s also very useful for later rounds if they start outrunning the boss! Or, if you just want to send them on their way, you can stuff them full of Deffcaps and watch the fireworks.

Oof! That’s another powerful upgrade to the Troggoths. As someone who played against this army a few times over the years these rolls were maddening to try and counter. It is nice to see GW take the step to make these units more reliable in the activation of their effects. Few things are more disappointing than a model’s ability simply never firing due to bad luck. With this ability in tow, you now have a very reliable anvil unit that will be hard to shift off of key objectives.

GW has also mentioned new upgrades to the Arachnarok Spiders including the ability to snare enemy heroes, which is very thematic and fun. As well as a new mystery army type comprised entirely of….well they didn’t say. My money is on spider riders. We don’t have any Snarlfang leaders so it isn’t likely to be them yet. While Age of Sigamr’s aesthetic and rules aren’t to everyone’s taste I do admit that they work really well for the gitz.

So are you pumped for this new release yet?
