After choosing a name like BugProletariat you would think I would create more 40k, or even Genestealer Cult, content, but Para Bellum’s Conquest fantasy wargame has consumed all of my gaming time recently. If you are unfamiliar with Conquest I wrote an introductory article that will get you up to speed if you are considering making the jump into playing this amazing wargame (article found here). Now is an excellent time to jump into this game due to the many exciting changes Para Bellum announced for Conquest coming out over the next couple of months. It’s also an excellent time to start playing Conquest since FLG just got a huge influx of Conquest models in their webstore, so after reading this article go check some of the models out!
City States: The 7th faction for Conquest will release in February, and I think a lot of players are going to have a hard time not buying these amazing models. The faction is a mash up of ancient Greek hoplites, minotaurs, and even has steampunk elements. The lore behind the City States is also pretty intense. You can read the whole story over on Para Bellum’s website along with a ton of other lore for any other factions that peek your interest. As you can probably tell from the unit of Hoplites, this faction will have high defense troops along with some amazing character models to back them up. Unfortunately, we will need to wait until the 2.0 rules drop to see exactly what this faction is capable of on the tabletop, but I will absolutely release an article covering the faction in more depth once the rules are released.
Project 8: Para Bellum is in this game for the long haul, and there is currently a vote going on over on their website for what the next faction coming to Conquest will be in 2024. Players can choose between the Nordic death-cult of Hel, the Arabian inspired Sorcerer Kings, or the Dogs of War mercenary faction if they are looking for a mashup of all the other cool Conquest factions. Right now, Sorcerer Kings is in the lead, and you can go vote for your favorite choice to determine the next faction coming to the game. Included in each factions Living World write up is some lore for the faction along with early concept art for some of the models that will be released for the faction.
Conquest 2.0: Para Bellum doesn’t only focus on putting out amazing miniatures for a game with a deep lore background. They also make sure their game’s rules are updated regularly based on player feedback. All the rules for Conquest (and the skirmish version of the game Conquest First Blood) can be found for free over on Para Bellum’s website. Currently, the game is on version 1.5, but version 2.0 is scheduled to drop as early as next week. The best thing about this update is it will cover all aspects of the game in a single free update on their website. The rulebook will be updated to 2.0, along with all of the faction rules, and the online army builder all at the same time at NO cost to the players! If some of the models from up above peeked your interest go over and check out the free full rules to Para Bellum’s games over on their website!
Para Bellum will also be attending LVO, and the Conquest tournament there is looking like it will be the largest Conquest even held to date! If you are headed to LVO for some Conquest, or have started this awesome game up at your local gaming store, let me know how you feel about the game in the comments below.
