Lord Paddington’s Powerfully Punctilious Prognostications – 2022 Recap

Close-up mid section of man touching crystal ball

Hi All,
It’s time to look at the predictions I made this January and see how many of them panned out! Let’s recap:

  1. Either the Tau or Craftworld Eldar book will break the meta….but… the issue will be rectified by the end of the summer
  2. We will get model previews for the Old World Fantasy games and Adeptus Titanicus will begin to turn into a new Version of Epic
  3. The new Horus Heresy release will be a half-way step between 7th and 8th but will be closer to 8th then 7th
  4. The following 40k Armies will get new books in 2022: Genestealer Cults, Custodes, Tau, Aeldari, Chaos, World Eaters/Khorne or Emperor’s Children/Slaanesh, Chaos Daemons and Imperial Knights.

Now let’s assess who correct I was:

  1. I am going to give myself a “W” here although I should have specified both were going to. I am not sure if being surpassed by more broken armies counts as “rectified” but I feel like this is close enough.
  2. Oof no W’s here just straight L’s. It’s been a quiet year for AT and it doesn’t seem any closer to involving non-titanic units.
  3. Hmm I was kinda on point here. I suppose it’s not that risky to say it would be a half-way system but I was surprised at how similar to 7th ed it ended up being. I think it’s almost perfect in it’s structure and can’t wait to see how they develop it. I am also amazed by the continual release of super-heavies in plastic!
  4. As the song goes 7/11 ain’t bad. I might also give myself a 0.5 point for the WE book even if it isn’t out yet. GW almost doubled the number of 40k codecies released this year to try and catch up which is a simply amazing stat. No wonder the competitive environment felt so chaotic!

All in all I am pretty happy with my powers of prediction. Of course I missed the Votann and was way too optimistic about the Old World but no one bats 1.000. Stay tuned in the coming weeks when I reveal my next set of prognostications for 2023!
