Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to help take a look at the past year. Well, for me anyway.
This year has seen a lot happen both in Warhammer 40,000 and the world at large. We’ll leave the real world stuff out of this as that is a whole other article and really doesn’t fit the tone of the subject matter I usually talk about. Instead, with Thanksgiving in the USA having just happened, we will take a look at a few highlights from 2022. I know there is a lot of highlights from this past year to choose from so I will make this really easy. This week we will look at highlights that I like, whether they deserve the distinction or not. The reason for this this is because these series of articles are all about me and if you never noticed that then you having been reading this blog for very long.
Finally a Chaos Space Marine Codex
If you haven’t been paying attention Chaos Space Marines, and Black Legion in particular, is my main army. After years of waiting we finally got our 9th edition codex. In addition we finally got our additional wound for most of the units in the army. Abaddon is an actual threat now, plus his arms don’t fall off anymore. Although not immediately overpowered like some other books, the codex still gives you a lot of variety and different ways to win. Since the codex release I have been very much enjoying playing the army. The book in general also got a boost thanks to the Chaos Daemons codex, and flamers in particular. Although it does muddy the water in terms of how to define a faction again, I am having fun so it’s all good.
Squats are back in the mix
Look who’s back! After a multi-decade absence, the diminutive guys with big guns return and whoa did they return. Even when they get nerfed right before their codex drops, the army is still able to hang if not outright win most of their games. Although they may have changed since their original incarnation I actually like the new look and updated lore. I am sure there will be plenty more models in the future as the current line of models is a bit limited, and still deadly. I am very much looking forward to how Games Workshop moves their background forward in the coming years.
I am getting a book published
For those that have not been listened to the podcast, and why aren’t you, I have written a set of historical rules that take place in Mesoamerica around the time of the Spanish conquest. It was not something that I had ever thought I would be doing and am very grateful that a publisher was willing to take a chance with a first time game designer. It comes out in February of next year so I very much look forward to seeing it in shops, both online and in brick and mortar stores, and hopefully people enjoy it. If you are interested just look up Obsidian Empires and it should come up. I appreciate everyone who pre-orders a copy.
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. As a reminder these series of articles are mainly satire.
