Cherokee Open Hall of Fame (2021-Present)

Since we had just announced the Cherokee Open coming back to the circuit for 2023, I thought it’d be a good idea to start up the Hall of Fame contenders for the events from last year.

Taking place in North Carolina on the Cherokee reservation, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking nature as well as some breathtaking miniatures. When you’re not rolling dice, you and your buddies can relax and enjoy this beautiful resort which has everything from bowling alleys, bars and a fireside patio to a large casino with plenty of places to fill your belly.

Here are the winners of the past events at the Cherokee Open!

WARHAMMER 40,000

2022

BEST GENERAL
The award of Best General is offered up to those with top placements during the Warhammer 40,000 champs tournament.

1st Place – Jack Harpster

Harpster is a prolific member of the US Warhammer 40,000 professional team, Art of War and won this event piloting the T’au Empire. Right on the heels of the codex release with crisis suits that melted whatever peaked out of their safe bubbles of defense. Harpster continues to represent Art of War and offers coaching services as well as appears on their podcasts centered around Warhammer 40,000 and professional levels of play.

2nd Place – Quinton Johnson

Johnson had been making the rounds up to this event running Drukhari until the first army he’d ever played, T’au, received their new codex for 9th edition, which is the army he represented. After his run at Cherokee, Art of War enlisted him onto the Art of War team is now one of their representatives.

3rd Place – Sean Rice

Rice comes in with another T’au finish, making this an event where the T’au Empire made up every result in the top placements for the tournament. This didn’t bode very well for the army as they received an immediate nerf afterwards. However, Rice played spectacularly regardless of what army he was piloting.

1st Place – David Fields

David went 5-0 running Stormcast Eternals and beat out armies like Sons of Behemet, Disciples of Tzeentch and Maggotkin of Nurgle during his run at the Cherokee Open. Interestingly he also brought the dragon Karazai which was an interesting twist to his list.

2nd Place – Mrigank Jha

Jha came in 2nd place with another Stormcast Eternals army after running the LVO gambit and landing into the top 8 for Age of Sigmar. Jha also finished with an impressive 5-0 streak during the Cherokee Open but barely lost out in total points at the end.

3rd Place – Jon Anderson

Anderson lost his first match in Round 1 against Mawtribes but finished with a 4-1 record running Idoneth Deepkin. An army that has not seen much representation, Anderson comes in to the Cherokee and shows people how the army can do when piloted by a good general.
