Apocalypse Mission – Crenelation

Hi All,
Here is the setup for an Apocalypse mission I will be trying out shortly. It is part of an ongoing narrative campaign I am running. Feel free to let me know what you think!

Narrative:
The presence of the Black Saint on Crenelation has caused a stir throughout the system. The presence of such a high-profile target is irresistible to those wishing to destabilize the system. The Black Saint has holed up in a strange installation colloquially known as the “Library” for its endless vaults and data collection stores. What the Saint wants to accomplish on this site is unknown. He was last seen entering the facility and ordering his motley band of imperial guardsmen and mercenaries to hold the line long enough for him to complete his mission. Outside the Library the defenders have dug in behind extensive fortifications and several void shields. In an attempt to circumvent these defenses, the attackers have found a route to the catacombs below the library. These saboteurs need to fight their way to the automated repair hubs for the voids in order to swing the battle in their favor.

Deployment Map:

Large Boards,

Orange = Attackers deployment zone

Red = Defenders deployment zone

Green= Void Shields

Yellow =Destructible objectives

Grey = Indestructible objectives

Void Shields: Use the standard profile for a Void Shield generator. Can be killed via shooting, once destroyed can only be brought back after units on small board complete repair action. Void Shields prevent incoming fire on its table, but not outgoing fire.

Yellow: 2 types:
1: Ammo dump, allows the defenders to use the overwatch stratagem for free once per player per turn.

2: Command post: Allows players to use the command re-roll once per turn for free

These can be destroyed by completing action starting at end of movement phase if in base contact. All auto explode, ammo dump does 2d6 mortals to all units in 3d6 inches

Grey= Misc objectives

Scoring:
Control (per board) 1/2/more 50/50/50
Designated survivor: players select 3 hq models worth 50/25/15 warlords must be 50, units with Warlord traits selected after that etc. Enemy team scores points for killing them

Small board:
1k infantry-only armies, control misc objectives, can use action to bring back voids. Fixed turn order, troops recycle on a 4+ elites on a 6+ (considered new units). Void Shields can be fixed at any time, can fix the left or right one, shields can come up mid turn, if so, no more shots into tables with fixed Void Shields

Scoring:
Control 1/3/more 15/15/15
Players nominate a unit, will always automatically recycle, if they get it to enemy’s deployment zone it can leave for 30 pts. However it may no longer recycle after that.

Hopefully that all made sense. This mission is one of my more ambitious attempts at custom rules and I am a little worried about it going pear-shaped quickly. The defenders get a lot of advantages, being dug in and some free re-rolls, however going second can be a big disadvantage, even using my club’s custom rule set. If the attackers coordinate well, and bring some speedy armies they should be fine. However since you don’t know if you are the attacker or defender until you show up that might make it too difficult.
