GW Grognard: Cruisehammer Recap

Hey everybody! Adam, from TFG Radio, here you give you a quick talk about Cruisehammer!

Well I am back from a short trip, only about eight days, through the Caribbean. This was with the Cruisehammer event that combines a warhammer tournament and a cruise. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the trip immensely, especially since this was my first cruise ever. There was a lot to navigate but there were a few things I learned and this week here are a few of them.

Have all your paperwork in order

Depending on what the cruise requires and what you plan on doing on the cruise, there can be a mountain of paperwork that needs to be done before you even get on this ship. Because we either didn’t have a passport or they were out of date, we had to make sure that we had the passports in time. There were also some extra paperwork due to health guidelines at the time and for some of the excursions. Leading up to the trip this can be somewhat stressful because if you don’t have the proper paperwork filled out or on hand then you may not even get on the ship and get to spend your cruise on shore at the port or back at home, but the stress is worth it.

Go on the Excursions

My spouse booked excursions for all 3 days we were on shore. At first I was not too excited about day 2’s excursion but it was still fun. One of the good things about going on the excursions through the cruise line is the fact that the excursion is tied to when the ship leaves. The ship will wait for your group if you are on an official excursion and are running late. If you and your party go off on your own there is no guarantee that the ship will wait for you. If the ship does leave you have to find your own way to meet the ship at the next stop. In addition the various excursions all seem fun. I am sorry that I was only able to do one each day as the one’s I had signed up for were all day excursions. In any case be sure to go on these, you will not be disappointed.

Play Warhammer

Don’t forget that you’re also there to play some Warhammer. There are a number of days where you are at sea traveling to the locations or back to the port of origin. During these “Sea Days” is when you have the chance to earn glory on the Warhammer tabletop. It’s only a couple of days, just like any grand tournament, so you can still use the other Sea days to do other activities on the ship. This year there was only 40K, but each year is different and if there is enough interest, then I am sure there will be an Age of Sigmar tournament as well. The tournament itself was fun as there were many gatherings outside of the tournament with the players and their significant others, very similar to most warhammer tournaments.

That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and if you’ve been on a cruise what advice you have, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
