Hey everyone! Adam here, from TFG Radio, to talk about how I am getting ready for a cruise I am going on.
I know what you are asking “Why should I care about going on a cruise?” Well, dear reader, if you have been a faithful visitor to the website you will know that we have Cruisehammer happing this week. It combines the experience of going on a cruise with the joys of playing a Warhammer 40K tournament. One of the best things about it is that the tournament does not interfere with any excursions or field trips you want to take during the cruise so you get to plan for both a vacation and a 40K tournament. As you read this I will be on my way to the start of my journey so this week I will discuss a few tips and tricks when getting ready for Cruisehammer.
Sign up for excursions early
One of the nice things about cruises is that you are able to visit multiple locations. The nice thing is that many of the locations have excursions that take you from the ship to whatever location you happen to be going. You have a limited amount of time on land so you need to be sure that you get back to the ship on time so they don’t leave without you. If you book an excursion through the cruise you rarely have to worry about missing the boat as the excursion is very aware of the time crunch and they will try to get you back to the ship in a timely manner. These tend to go fast so the sooner you sign up the better.
Don’t forget your army
This is the whole reason you are going. i know traveling with an army can be stressful but if you play a low model count army, or an army with mostly infantry models, then you should be ok. Armies with a lot of vehicle models or a lot of parts that can break easily may suffer a bit when traveling but if you take special care when packing them you should be fine. The real way to make sure very little damage happens to your army is to be sure they go with you as either your carry on or personal item. This ensures that your model’s care are totally in your control so you really have no one to blame but yourself. Now if you happen to be running or judging the event then you really don’t have to worry about this aspect of the cruise and just worry about the rules.
Clothes
In all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the cruise, don’t forget to pack clothes. I think I have a small knapsack for the clothes I plan on bringing for the trip. I luckily am not a needy person when it comes to my clothes. You can’t really predict what you really need but, knowing the area, you might be able to easily have the appropriate clothes but why do that? Just bring the minimum and see what happens. Worst case scenario I can just buy the clothes I need, right?
