Mance Continues to Dominate – ASOIAF German Nationals

Last week the German Nationals took place, with a great turnout of 32 players! The event took place in Hanover at the Star Event Center which hosted this legendary event. The 1-day 4-game event saw many factions clash to be named the winner but only two players ended the event with 4 wins. Thank you to ASOIAF-Stats.com for providing all the stats for the tournament so we can peek into the lists and games. Let us check out some of the top performers

Kornelius used Mance for all 4 of his games. Kornelius walked away with 1 loss and 3 wins. He lost against a Khal Drogo list and had a close win against another Mance Rayder list. Close to a 5th of the player base were using Mance Rayder and with him being the current top dog most lists look the same. However, Kornelius has made a very different list with the inclussion of Wun Wun and multiple Frozen Shore Chariots. Well done Kornelius in getting 5th place!

Gerd used Khal Drogo for all 4 of his games, however it is unclear which lists he used for each game. Gerd walked away with 1 loss and 3 wins. He lost against a Eddard Stark list and had a close win against a Cotter Pyke list. Closing in on a 5th of the players brought a Khal Drogo list to use, and with him being the best Targaryen Commander we have seen for a long while a Drogo at the top of every tournament. Hopefully when the Heroes Box 3 or the next balance update releases this will shake things up, and a Dothraki horde isn’t always screaming through the fields of Westeros. Well done Gerd on taking 4th place!

LJ used Ramsay for all 4 of his games. LJ walked away with 1 loss and 3 wins. He lost against a Mance Rayder list and was a close game, he also had another close game against another Mance Rayder list. At the Welsh GT, we saw a surprise podium finish for a Neutral Faction, and here LJ has repeated the feat and finished 3rd with pure Neutrals. I am starting to believe the faction is not as dire as anticipated, however double Flayed Men appeared in both lists from the GT and Nationals which may suggest what the army is relying on. Well done to LJ for taking 3rd place!

Red Priestess ( 1 )

Non Combat Units
• Melisandre ( 5 )
• Jaqen H’ghar ( 5 )
• Axell Florent ( 4 )

Jeroen mainly used The Rightful Heir for his games, but did bring out The One True King in a game against Mance Rayder. LJ walked away with 4 wins. He had close game with The One True King against Mance Rayder, and tied on VPs against a Cortnay Penrose list resulting in a winner being declared from UDs. Jeroen lost out on first place by 5 fewer SPs and a whooping 65 UDs. His lists were incredibly hard to kill, double Champions of the Stag alone is enough to know he isn’t going to lose through combat. However, being drawn up against another brick wall in Cortnay Penrose and failing to push ahead in VPs against Mance resulted in Jeroen taking second place, well done!

Daniel brought Mance Rayder for all his games, however again it is unclear which lists he used for each game though both lists were very similar from one another. Daniel walked away with 4 wins. He had close games with a Khal Drogo list and a Benjen Stark on foot list. Daniel secured high 20s points of UDs across all of his games with one being in the lower 20s, for a Free Folk army I do consider that to be quite amazing, especially since he faced Lannisters and Night’s Watch not known for being easy to wipe off the board. Congratulations in winning the tournament and taking 1st place!
