Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to once again talk about the wonderful universe of 40K.
I’m sure all of you have talked about this with your friends, at least you 40K friends. What would you be doing if you were born in the 41st millennia. There are a whole host of different things that you could be in the big universe that is Warhammer 40K and I know a lot of you have given it a lot of thought, especially going by some people’s Facebook and Reddit posts. So this week I will be discussing some of the jobs I would most likely have if I were lucky, or unlucky, enough to be been in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Space Marine
I could totally become a Space Marine. To be honest I don’t know if I could pass for some of the more blood thirsty chapters of Space Marines. It could easily be the case that I just need to be raised on that Chapter’s homeworld so maybe I could become a Space marine for any of the Chapters. I have always been athletic and have excelled at sports. I know my way around firearms and could handle myself in a fight, although my last proper fight was a number of years ago. I studied history in college and have read a number of military history books over the years. I have watched plenty of YouTube videos so there is no shortage of tactics I don’t know. In fact, I am pretty sure I would make Captain at the very least, if not Chapter Master. I would be a shining beacon in a universe of darkness.
Chaos Space Marine
This is the flipside when I become a Space Marine and really where I would go. Having played a Chaos Space marine army for so many years, I would know the truth of the universe and would readily serve the dark gods. I have the same skill set that made me a Space Marine but so I wouldn’t even have to become a cultist or anything as low as that. Obviously I would quickly rise the ranks, while carefully balancing the favors of the great powers. I would become a Chaos Lord leading my own warband and, because of my knowledge and martial power, would very quickly and easily become a Daemon Prince. I would then have a planet all my own to rule with my power. I would never fall and become a chaos spawn, right?
Dead
Let’s be honest, in all likelihood I would be dead by this point. Not everyone is special, no matter what your kindergarten teacher told you, and you most likely will die before you are thirty. There are so many ways to die, you would have to be lucky to make it to 40. Whether being turned into a servitor, where you may as well be dead, serving on a ship in any capacity, a chapter aspirant, or eking a living just working in a factory, there are plenty of opportunities to come to a bad end. Happen to be on a planet that has a cultist cell, Exterminatus. Saw a Grey knight fighting a daemon? Executed. Just finished you 20 hour shift at the factory? Arrested and killed for sighing in a heretical way. Just as the opening text of the game says “. . . the universe is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed . . .”
