GW Grognard: Where are They Now

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk again about things from the misty past of Warhammer 40,000

Those early days of 40K were wild. There were a lot of ideas that were floated around in that time and many of them are still with us today and have grown exponentially over the years. Still there are some areas of the background where we never found out what happened or if some of those early characters are even around in today’s universe. So this week we’ll have a look at a few of the fluff that was released back in the first edition of 40K and what happened between then and now.

Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau

This Inquisitor is famed for his for his psychic powers that he using to help solve mysteries while on water worlds, at least if I am going by the name. I can imagine his entourage getting bigger as the story of the 41st millennium expanded over the years. So he should have a sizable and varied amount of people over the last 30 years but who knows what changes could have happened to him over those same years. In the end, due to the nature of working for the Inquisition, our buddy Obiwan most like died to the machinations of another Inquisitor.

Potaex Hitsen – Psi Trader

If you were lucky enough to get a copy of the first Chapter Approved, especially if you lived in the US, then you may not have heard of this Rogue Trader. Potaex used his psychic powers to help him when encountering new worlds and meeting new aliens. In addition, he had a group of followers that included many species of aliens both known and unknown to the Imperium. Unfortunately I don’t think that poor Poteax would be with us today. I don’t think the Inquisition would take kindly to his trafficking with aliens and he would very much be sanctioned “with extreme prejudice”.

Chief Librarian Astropath Illiyan Nastase

Being half human and half Eldar can’t be all bad, right? I’m sure in those early days the Chief Librarian was well respected by his Ultramarine brothers. I mean as long as he kept his helmet on no one would know about his mixed heritage. Unfortunately I don’t think Illiyan would survive to the current timeline. Being part alien, especially after the Heresy would make the Imperium really clamp down on those of mixed blood and he would not be able to escape his fate. Also, being born on Badab probably wouldn’t help his case.

That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what old fluff characters you wish you could find out what happened, in the comments section below.
