GW Grognard: Excitement on the Rise

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk a little about what was showcased since my last article.

There is a lot going on in my sphere right now in the world of 40K/30k. Between the new Chaos Space Marine codex and Horus Heresy 2.0 my wallet is going to take a big hit, more than usual. With the recent sneak peaks and announcements, I am looking forward to what is coming for both my Black Legion and Sons of Horus armies. So this week here is a look at a few thigs that I am looking forwards too in the coming month.

Chaos Space Marine Codex

Many older Chaos players remember the glory days that was the 3.5 edition codex. I know that we will never go back to those days but I am looking forward to the new codex that is coming out. If recent codex releases tells us anything then this new codex should be pretty good. Do I expect it to be Admech, Druhkari, Custodes good? not really. When you are at the bottom to begin with, you can only go up. I expect it to be a strong contender and make us more competitive without having to use a skew list or some esoteric list that only a few can pilot properly. I know that I am dusting off my legionnaires and getting ready to continue the Long War once again.

Plastic Tanks

I am all on board the tank train. The plastic Spartan, rhino, Sicaran, Kratos, and others has me really looking forward to these releases. I do have a few of them in resin and they were a bit of a paint to put together. Having these kits as plastic means easier access to getting them, as long as they are in stock, at a more affordable price but also I’ll actually get to use the models as most Horus Heresy games are larger point values so I can get a lot of those larger vehicles into the game. Yeah, I could use them for 40K but it would be hard to fit them in the army and still be viable. The other good thing about the new plastic kits is, if I do decide to use some for 40K, it is easier to convert the models to look more inline with the Chaos Space Marine aesthetic because plastic is easier for me to work with than resin models.

The Clone Wars

Looking a the Votann, I was a bit surprised at the recent fluff Games Workshop teased. Having them being clones, essentially, seems pretty cool to me and helps differentiate them from the other bipedal factions in the game. This also helps to explain why they are more stand offish when associating with the Imperium as the Imperium has a pretty rigid view in regards to clones and similar technology. I am still hoping that the Men of Iron are somehow associated with the Votann as well but I won’t be mad if they are not. So far so good for me, well maybe except for the norelco razor trike.
