Hey everyone! Adam , from TFG Radio, here to talk about sending some of my Chaos Space marine models to the retirement container.
Games Workshop has decided to tease us with some of the stats for the new Chaos Space marines and that got me thinking about the models that I currently have. I literally have hundreds of models and, unless Games Workshop comes out with new plastic kits, the only models I am missing are the Forgeworld models. I can slowly get those over time as I do live near a Warhammer Cafe. I recently, however, got a hold of a number of boxes of the most recent Havoc and Chaos Space Marine kits so I am in the middle of building them. They will be replacing a lot of my current models so that, hopefully, my army will be ready once the new codex drops. That being said, here are a few of the models that I am dropping and one that I am keeping.
Terminators
I actually have a lot of the old Rogue trader and 2nd edition Chaos terminators. I think around 30 or 40 built and unbuilt. I have an equal amount of the last 2 versions of the models, which I enjoy very much. I tried to mix in the old metal ones and the current models but I think it is time to put them out to pasture. There is a noticeable size difference between the old metal models and the current model line. Once people notice this, it is hard to dismiss and can really take someone out of the moment. I’m still keeping them , as I do with most of my stuff, but they will be in deep storage for a long time.
Chaos Space Marines
I had already mentioned these guys but I am still going to officially say it, a lot of these guys are out. This is a lot of the old 2nd edition metal models and a lot of the old Chaos Space Marine plastic kit. As with the terminators, there is a size difference, although not as noticeable. I also really like the look and posing of the newer models anyway. A lot of the older models have very static poses with no or very little dynamic movement. The posing of a lot of the new models and box sets will breath new life into my army and hopefully perform better on the battlefield. Luckily, being Black Legion, they are a bit quicker for me to get battle ready for tournaments so that is a plus.
One Model Makes the Cut
Okay, I know I said that I wanted to use newer models because of the size difference but there is 1 exception. I am keeping 1 of my original space marine models that I had bought way back when i started playing the game during the days of Rogue Trader. As you can see, he is a model from the infamous RBT01 Space marine box set. yes, he can easily be seen as being smaller than the rest but he is a connection to when I first started playing the game. this also includes a Chaos lord that I have from 3rd edition that I still use sometimes when I am using a Chaos Lord HQ but there currently isn’t much of a size difference between him and current Lords so it is not that big of an issue. in any case, they both survive the cut to fight for the dark gods and Abaddon once more.
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what models you plan to replace or update, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
