Hey Everybody! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about the return of some old friends.
Long time readers of this series know that there are many times when I talk about models and armies that are not in current game of 40K. I’m sure that all of you have similar sentiments about armies or figures that are no longer available but would love to be able to use again. Literally after my last article was published, Games Workshop decided to announce the return of an army that has been gone for about 20 years, Squats, although now they are called League of Votann. With the new Votann on the way, eventually, there are anumber of models I hope will still be a part of the army and make it in their new codex, whenever it is released.
Overlord Airship
This seems easy to me. Games Workshop already has the models in the form of the Kharadon Overlord airships. I can see Games Workshop making a larger version the those current models and adapting the aesthetic to 40K. It can easily be a Lord of War for the army on the same scale as any of the Baneblade variants. With all of the other ridiculous stucc in the 40K universe, a giant armored balloon is perfectly fine. I can see it almost like a giant transport for the little guys with each Votann only counting as 1/2 a model, or something to that effect. I am sure it will be fine.
Iron Eagle Gyrocopter
I think that this model would be great an unique for the army. In old epic it had a couple of roles and that could easily be converted over to the 28mm scale table top. I would expect it to be something similar to the Valkyrie that the Astra Militarum uses. Seeing vehicles that are made by the Votann should be a bit sturdier, I can see the gyrocopter being better armoured and probably with better toughness. This might actually help it stay alive and be one of the few vehicles that can survive going second in the game. I think it would be a cool model in general and that is really the only reason to be made.
Land Train
I have talked about this model before but I will say it again, I really hope this models becomes a thing, in one shape or another. I can see it as an armoured engine and you could add as many or as few battle cars as possible. I just think it would be fun to have an armoured train in the game, in general. If Games Workshop uses the battle car options from the epic model it give you some variety as to what the train will be about. Obviously it would be a Lord of War but I think it would be hilarious to have an army consist of just 3 Land Trains with the general inside of one. This isn’t even counting all the Thomas the train conversions you will be undoubtedly be seeing when this model is released.
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what League of Votann models you wish to see, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
