Tyranids Codex Announced AND Get A Combat Patrol Box

The bugs who want to give hugs and eat to their hearts content are finally coming out with a 9th edition book along with a new Combat Patrol box that’s sure to shake up the competition.

The Tyranids have become a menace with Crusher Stampede and is one of the only 8th edition codicies that have the teeth to punch up (and a lot of times down) at their competition with new rules from their Leviathan update and Army of Renown rules. However, the threat isn’t over because the Tyranids are back on the menu to bring their data sheets and abilities to a 9th edition standard.

First off, the cover art looks sick. In my opinion it’s one of the best cover arts for a book this edition. Having the hive tyrant be front and center (walking too) makes any Tyranid player giddy with joy. If what we’ve seen from unofficial leaks are true, then the Hive Tyrant is getting a huge glow up with this book and so did a lot of our other monsters.

But the question still stands…will the Carnifex become the dreadnought equivalent it was meant to be? What about good ‘ol Old One Eye? Only time will tell…and GW.

The Combat Patrol announcement is pretty hype. With the Start Collecting box being the only box you can get for Tyranids outside of the rarely seen in the wild Apocolypse boxset, the Combat Patrol is a breath of fresh air. The biggest gripe with the Tyranids Start Collecting box is that it uses models you barely see in Tyranid armies outside of Genestealers and as a starting point you don’t have much to go off of.

However with the new box coming with one of Tyranid’s best HQ choice for years, termagants to fill in your troop slots and Warriors, the box has legs to stand on for new players and for veteran players it’s another chance to get your hands on another Hive Tyrant and some more warriors.

Even though the Tyranids are doing well right now it’s mostly relying on Forgeworld units, those dang pesky Hive Guard and Termagants (whose fleshborer’s are apparently getting a huge glow up). All because their datasheets are so out of date it’s laughable. With this new book, we’ll be seeing these bugs all over the battlefield and it might be time to call in for an exterminator…or at least more guns to shoot them with.
