GW Grognard: The Joys of Flying

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about all the wonderful benefits of flying to your next 40k tournament,

As you are reading this the Cherokee Open is in full swing. Like many of you playing in tournaments this weekend I flew from Los Angeles to Atlanta in order to be there. I’m sure many of you have good advice on how to travel with your army. However, this article is not about that, at his week we will be talking about some of the joys you can experience when flying with your army.

Putting Models Together Again

For many people the best part of the hobby is actually putting your models together. People are always talking about different techniques and ways they built their models, especially when it’s a custom build or conversion. When you fly with your army there is a good chance for you to relive building the army since you will probably have to put it all back together. This is especially true if you send your army as checked bags. So just assume you will have to put it all together again when you arrive at your destination. At least this time you don’t have to paint the army after you get it built for the second time.

Talking About Warhammer 40K

If you play 40K you also like talking about 40k. I am sure there are plenty of friends and family out there have have heard enough of you talking about the game and your models. When you are flying it gives you a wonderful opportunity to talk to people outside of your normal circle about the game you love. Having to explain why you have all this plastic inside of your suitcase is the perfect conversation starter to enlightened someone about the wonderful 40k universe. Doubly so if you are traveling with an old school all metal army. Always a good way to make new friends.

Your Army Traveling to New Places

If you are traveling to new tournaments then obviously your army is traveling with you. But when you have been traveling to the same events every year it can sometimes seem monotonous for your army to keep going to the same places every year. However, if you fly to a lot of these places, and you check your army in, there is a good possibility that your army could end up in a different location than where you are. This is great as your army gets to be at an exciting new locations. It’s bad for you however as you are now at a tournament without your army but I am sure the experience of being at a new place is well worth it for your army.

That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and where your luggage I mean army, has ended up, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
