Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to give all a glimpse of what we will hopefully see in the upcoming ITC season.
Well the Las Vegas Open is finally behind us and with it another season of the ITC. It has been a pretty good season and it ending with a good Las Vegas Open and an exciting final day on Sunday. Now we look forward to the new season and new algorithms for us to try to figure out. There are also a few other things that are coming down the pipe but I am sure those will be announced when they are ready. In the mean time lets have a look as to what I expect from this new ITC season.
No More Fake players
One of the issues we had during the last few years was tournament organizers adding ghost players, or even making store employees “play” in order to hit certain numbers so that their tournament could count as a grand tournament or major grand tournament. They are almost always caught and it lead to situations where the players are essentially punished for a bad faith tournament organizer. Hopefully with the new system tournament organizers don’t have to stress out about this as the only things that matter is how many players there are and how many rounds are played. I know some tournament organizers will need help kicking this habit of trying to reach certain numbers but I think that it is something that will change over time and as people get used to the idea.
Now I can get a Full Score
In previous seasons it was always difficult for me to get a full set of scores. Getting the RTT scores was easy and I can get a grand tournament score but the one that always got away from me was the major or super major score because I usually judged those events. Now I don’t even have to attend certain events as I can now get all my scores from any event, big or small. You do get bigger scores with more players but for those of us that can’t make some of the larger events this helps a lot. I know this still doesn’t get me close to winning the ITC or even winning Best in Faction, because I judge LVO, but it is nice to see where I stand as a player for the season.
The Topsy Turvy Meta
It seems like we are in for a wild rife for the foreseeable future. We just got Tau, next seems to be Eldar, than it was hinted that Tyranids come after. This seemingly quick succession of books will rattle the meta as players try to figure out which strong army to use and what combinations are the ones to go with. This kind of reminds me of the end of 7th edition when Games Workshop released a flurry of codexes one right after another. Back then there was little time to adjust before a new book was out. it seems like we will be getting some breathing room but I don’t think it will be much, especially with the added balance dataslates ever quarter. Don’t expect the meta to settle any time soon so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
