GW Grognard: Crunch Time

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to help you with those final touches before the Las Vegas Open.

We are less than a week away from the Las Vegas Open and the crowning of the next ITC champion. Now we know not everyone is in the running for the top spot but there are still the best in faction awards and just the fact that you are in Las Vegas for the weekend. The event as a whole is always a good time as you are meeting old and new friends. The Pub Crawl is amazing and it’s own event itself. Saying all that, it seems we are at the time of the year when people start posting about how they are trying to get their army ready for LVO and they still have 1900 points of their army to build and paint. That being said, here are some tips to make sure you are ready for LVO next week.

Contrast is your friend

If you don’t know already, I hate painting the models. It is just a chore for me but a necessary one if you want to play in larger tournaments. luckily for me Games Workshop has come out with contrast paints to help speed things along. Now I can quickly paint up my armies and have them 3 color ready for any of the local ITC events. I still have to do a little more work to make them battle ready for GW events but contrast helps me get a head start. So just apply a few different contrast colors and some basing then you are good to go and not have to stay up until the early hours to have that army ready for round 1.

Already Be Packed

Yes the event is few days out but you should already have all your stuff packed away. Just pack your clothes and other necessities now so you are not scrambling around looking for stuff when it is actually time to leave. This is especially true if you are working from home. You can just stay in your pajamas until you have to leave. If you listened in the previous paragraph then your army should be ready to go now and thus you should be able to just pack it up and ready to go also. You don’t need any practice games with your army that just got a new codex, I am sure it will be fine.

Stay Standing for a Long Time

This seems mean but it is something you may need to get used to, especially if you are lucky (unlucky) enough to get to the shadow round. You will be standing a lot throughout the day and weekend. If it is not something you are used to then you need to start practicing it now. Stand in uncomfortable place and in uncomfortable shoes to really get those reps in. It will help you in the long run. I know you think I am kidding but you will see and thank me later on. I take cash only please.

That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and how your crunch time is going, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
