GW Preview’s HUGE Updates For The NEW T’au Codex

Whether you’re a veteran T’au enthusiast or just recently joined the Empire, these new updates are going to rustle your jimmies.

From the previews that dropped not too long ago to now, T’au has a lot of awesome buffs and updates incoming when their new codex comes out and these changes bring back what T’au players have been missing since the start of 9th edition.

Battlesuits can shoot in close combat! I repeat, Battlesuits can shoot in close combat! What makes this great is that you don’t have to spend any CP for this. Just being able to even shoot into melee combat is a huge boon for Battlesuits right now seeing as they can easily just get tied up in battle and not having the Monster or Vehicle keyword they could only punch at their opponents. Along with this we also get a preview of some of the changes GW made with their weapons.

HNNNNG a D6+2 flamer? Uhmmmmm EXCUSE ME? I love it. That’s at minimum 3 shots from this flamer making it better than the last flamer I used and rolled a 1. Having this be on a squad of 5 Battlesuits (if you’re allowed to take multiple of these) that’s at minimum 15 shots guaranteed to hit. Who needs to have a lower Ballistic Skill if you just auto hit anyways?

Plus the Burst Cannon goes from 4 to 6 shots. It still has the same Strength and Armor Penetration profile as it’s current iteration, but combo these with the new Mont’ka rules dropped earlier and now they’ve got an Extra AP and re-rolling wounds of 1 when they’re in range to shoot these weapons.

The buffs keep coming, Battlesuits getting pseudo Blast without giving the guns Blast means they can still shoot these weapons in combat without being stopped by a weird rule. Target Lock has also been changed from being able to Advance and Fire Assault without Penalty or still be able to shoot Heavy and Rapid Fire weapons at -1 to hit to now just ignoring the benefits of Light Cover. Interesting. Don’t know how I feel about this change, but the exploding 6’s are still nice. Couple it with the new Kayon and you’re getting double exploding 6’s and that’s pretty dang spicy.

Eldar looked at T’au and said, here’s my homework – just change it up a bit okay? Fire and Fade comes to the T’au Empire making veteran players of the army happy. A squad of Jet Pack units now have access to move and shoot so you can peek around buildings and then move back into cover. More ways to keep a mobile gun more mobile? Count me in.

Bring a squad of 5 battlesuits, take them out of deepstrike and just start blasting away at your opponent with full re-rolls to hit.

These are some awesome changes to the T’au army. Finally, their time of terror is almost upon us and it’s going to be glorious. Well, at least for them. For everyone else it’s going to be pain…lot’s of pain.
