GW Grognard: Persecuting the Book Worms of 40K

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about the outrageous things happening to the librarians of the 40K universe.

There is something happening that many people are not aware of. We are about to get a codex that specifically target psykers as they are just coming into their own. If you count the Sisters of Battle codex then we will have two such books, but I don’t count them because they really don’t need that tech to do well against the psychic armies, they just shoot them with melta. Here are a few reason why these keepers of knowledge should not be persecuted just for trying to further their education.

Seeking Knowledge

These guys are just trying to further their own knowledge of the universe. Whether it’s the names of greater daemons or a spell that just so happens to destroy reality as we know it, both the Grey Knights and Thousand Sons are always looking out for us by furthering what we know about the universe. Imagine how the lives of the average 40K citizen would be even worse if these two institutions of knowledge did not actively seek out the secrets to the universe that could possibly destroy everything we know. Actually, don’t think about that and instead focus on what they learn to further help the universe. Well, ok don’t think about that either as I don’t think that helps my case. In fact, forget what I just wrote by reading this incantation a shadowy guy in blue armor gave me.

Not Very Good at Fighting

Let’s be honest, they are just book worms that sit in a dimly lit room all day reading up on knowledge that was lost or reexamining some old lore that their teachers told them to look up for extra credit. They are not trained for real combat. Yes, they have some cool combat units that are somewhat effective but they aren’t really that good at all. Why they are the battlefield is really because they have to get somewhere and an opposing army just happens to be in the way, whether by design or by accident. I am pretty sure the last thing they want to do is fight a nameless horror or a pumped up super soldier when instead they be cozying up with a grimoire and their favorite cup of tea. Oh the humanity of it all!

Mind Bullets aren’t That Bad

OK, I admit that the psychic powers can be somewhat annoying. People’s heads exploding, being turned inside out, and being sucked into a nameless void can put a damper on anyone’s day. Even the mighty war machines like the Imperial Knights sometimes suffer from the mental fortitude of these two psychic armies. What people forget is that they also have a lot of help powers that is rarely seen on the battlefield. Being able to move quickly from one place to the other is extremely useful when you are in a hurry. They also help out with things like spring cleaning, getting a cat out of a tree or even getting those items lost on the roof of your house. I mean sure they could possibly destroy all of existence with a thought but what about all the good they do before that happens?

That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what you think of the Grey Knight and Thousand Sons codex, in the comments section below.
