Hey everybody! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to tell you why everything is ok in 40K.
What a bustling week. Surprises galore as we are treated to all kinds of new information. It’s not just for one army either. There is a lot of information for people to digest for a lot of factions. Added to all this information, Games Workshop also decided to drop the bomb in the form of an FAQ for a fair number of codexes. What they also did was curtail the scourge of the meta, Druhkari. Thankfully there are a few reasons why this is so and why we can now relegate them to the bookshelf of metas past.
Raiders Cost More
In case you haven’t noticed, the Raider now costs a whopping 95 points, base. Depending on the loadout, that is about 20 points more than a Chimera and we all know how good Chimeras are right now. This increase in cost is sure to cripple any list that has any amount of raiders in the army. That Drukhari player will easily have to really think about losing that one raider in order to fit the army within 2000 points. Thankfully there is no other, cheaper, transport option, right?
Cult of Strife not as Good
Those that have suffered from the Cult of Strife Succubus with the Competitive Edge Warlord Trait know what I’m talking about. The number of attacks were staggering from this blender unit. Thanks to a rules clarification, the explosion of additional attacks can no longer be applied to the initial additional attacks that were generated. In addition, certain special rules also can not be used on these additional attacks. This stops a lot of shenanigans from this unit and makes this HQ useless.Yup, luckily there are no other warlord traits or relics that could make this unit as deadly. No mortal wound spamming stuff at all. Totally harmless now.
Dark Technomancer Fix
This one is the big one. Games Workshop fixed this Dark Technomancer Obsession by having it not apply to liquifiers. Thank god this happened. I can tell you how many times my the Valkyries from my Elysium army would die to these weapons. This is a real boon for fliers and units that are hard to hit, especially. now the skies are safe for our aircraft to fly around and kill stuff. I was afraid that this obsession would cause people to stop bringing fliers so be sure to bring as many fliers as possible. Oh, and I guess they were really effective against other stuff to. Doesn’t matter now though. thanks to this nerf you won’t see wracks anymore. And because Drukhari have no other good units, you won’t see any good armies anymore. I’m sure you’ll still see some die hards try to make something work but I’m pretty certain that the codex has no other good units. Nothing good at all.
Yeah, so now that the Drukhari Menace is now behind us, we have nothing to worry about. We can all bask in the glory of a balanced meta and look forward to upcoming codexes that are sure to enhance the game in a way we only dreamed of. What can go wrong?
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what you think of the recent FAQs, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
