Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about wargames with little plastic toys.
For a number of years now, Games Workshop has released something just about every week of the year. Even if it wasn’t for Warhammer 40,000, they released something for everyone. I can’t remember when was the last time that there was a weekend with no releases. I mean, luckily this gives us a pause in spending and some relief for our wallets. It also allows Games Workshop to catch up to the high demand, hopefully. So for the next few weeks there won’t be anything to go out and buy, build, and paint. With that in mind, what am I supposed to do now?
Read a Book
If you are like me, you also read a lot of the books put out by Black Library. You probably also have a back log of 40K books to read, especially if you love the Horus Heresy, like I do. Thanks to not having to worry about new releases, I have more time to catch up on all my back log of books. Luckily I am caught up to the Siege of Terra series, but there is a whole host of books in my Audible that are waiting for me to listen. Now that I look at it, it’s a lot. Hmm, maybe I’ll just focus on something else.
Put Models Together
As well as a back log of books, you probably have a pile of shame. If you are like me, you have multiple piles of shame based on company, game system, historical, miniature size, and a bunch of other categories that are numerous and arcane. This time of no buying is perfect for you to put a dent into this pile to at least get these models built. I know you have a number of army ideas and if you have the models you can start building the models for the army. Pairing down on your piles of shame will open up a lot of space in your living space that you can easily refill with new product once Games Workshop starts production again.
Painting Your Models
If you follow this article, you know I am not doing this no matter what.
Playing Games
If you can’t get any new models, then you need to get outside and play some games. Yeah, you could just use TTS but that’s not really the same as playing face to face, if you can, with another person. Getting out, actually rolling dice, and moving physical models around. More importantly, hopefully this gets you going outside or just interacting with actual people. Heaven knows many of us need to get used to personal interaction again.
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and what you are doing with no releases in the near future, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
