Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to let you know how great I am at this game, or not.
Well things are looking up in my local area. Numbers are trending down so we are finally able to enjoy the outside world again. More importantly, we are able to play games of 40K again outside of the computer or our basements, although we don’t have many of those where I live. What really had us excited was the fact that we would finally be able to play in an organized tournament setting. The last time we were able to play was a little over a year ago and we had a blast. Now I performed just about where I expected, considering the army I was taking, but there are plenty of takeaways from the tournament. Here are a few of them that I hope you will find them helpful.
Just Pay the parking
Now I was able to find parking near the store but there isn’t a lot of free parking nearby. There are parking meters but there is a parking structure very close by that is not very expensive and the store where the event is held even comped the parking fee. A couple players still preferred to find free parking so they parked a bit away from the event. this seemed like a hassle, especially if you have a large army. They later stated that next time they will just pay the $5 and pay for parking. I mean if $5 is that big of an issue for you, I have some bad news for you if you want to continue in this hobby.
Play a Real Army
I love playing Chaos. Specifically Chaos Space Marines and Black Legion, if I could. I know that the Chaos Space Marine book isn’t that good but I at least wanted to make a go of it. I went 1-2 and the losses weren’t too bad. I definitely feel the difference between playing a book with a new codex and the older 8th edition codexes. I will still stay with Chaos but will probably pivot to Death Guard as they are the only Chaos army that has a current book. The new Book of Rust list has me interested. Hopefully I can have fun with the new army until we get a new Chaos Space Marine book.
I’m not too bad
I always worry about how I do in a tournament. The fact that I take sub par armies probably doesn’t help my chances in doing well. I’m usually good for 1 win at least. The fact that my games were winnable gives me some confidence. I just need to actually pay attention to what secondaries I choose and really look at getting at least 10 points each turn in all my games. I think I could do that, then I should be alright. Having teammates that actually do worse then me at the same tournament can also help with the confident boost as well.
