Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, and as you can see I am once again doing podcast reviews.
Hello and welcome to the return, somewhat, of an article I used to write. Simply put this weekly article will list competitive 40K podcasts that you can listen to and my opinion about the episode. This first article will list all the competitive 40K podcasts that I am aware of, with a short description. Before that there are a few rules.
- They are, in my opinion, Semi-competitive and competitive podcasts
- Podcasts only
- I will not review podcasts that have a paywall
- I do not review podcasts by the manufacturer
- This includes Kill Team podcasts
- Last episode released should be in the last couple months
- I will list podcast releases for the past week, highlighting some of the stand outs for the week
- Podcast logos or title will have link to the show
- Lastly, it is my opinion, do not take it personally
The following is a list of current, active, competitive 40K podcasts:
TFG Radio – Of course I will start with my podcast. It features 3 of the Las Vegas Open judges and looks at the game from a judge’s/organizer’s perspective. I do admit the show does wonder off at times but it can be informative, especially in regards to the ITC.
Battlehosts – One of my favorite podcasts. They provide information and insight for both the new and veteran competitive player.
Best in Faction – Starting out as a podcast about 2 players trying to get better at competitive 40K. They still continue that missions, now with a third host and putting together the Charityhammer event.
Canhammer 40K – Canadian podcast that focuses on 40K and Age of Sigmar, at times. If you play Custodes, you will want to give this podcast a listen.
The Competitive 40K Podcast – Not going to lie, this is one of the more straight forward names for a podcast. Features Blood Angels player Stephen Box.
Dangli Boyz – Podcast about newcomers to the competitive scene. I believe they are located in the southern part of the US
Exterminatus Podcast – Weekly podcast that mainly looks at the results of tournaments over the previous weekend. the hosts are a bit dry for my tastes.
Flying Monkey’s Wargaming Podcast – Podcast from the organizers of Flying Monkey Con. Also the podcast for updates to the Lord Marshal Series
Fog of War – Weekly look at the competitive 40K scene
Forge the Narrative – Long time competitive 40K podcast. They delve into other aspect of the hobby but they always steer back to the competitive scene.
Chapter Tactics – If you are on this website you know this weekly podcast. It’s the quality guests that really make this show shine.
High Lords of Terra – Located in the bay area. Although not exclusively a Necron podcast, one of the more knowledgeable Necron players is part of the show.
Honest Wargamer – Run by a former Games Workshop employee, Rob and his other co-hosts bring a lot to the table for both competitive 40K and Age of Sigmar.
In the Finest Hour – Podcast that focuses on specific aspects of the competitive scene. Be warned sound can be an issue, especially the early episodes, along with voices.
The Killzone – Competitive Kill Team podcast. Features interviews with top players.
The Long War – Another longtime show, they somewhat talk competitive 40K. Honestly, I’m not sure how much value you will get from the podcast but give it a listen and judge for yourself.
Normal Blokes – Australian 40K podcast that looks at the local Australian scene.
Preferred Enemies – A semi competitive podcast from the former organizers of the Midwest Conquest GT. Good show for those just starting out in the competitive scene.
Norn Iron 40K – Competitive podcast that focuses on the Northern Ireland meta.
Realspace Raiders – Although focusing on all aspects of the the hobby, it is a good source if you play Dark Eldar.
Sister Act – Another faction specific podcast, this time focusing on the Adeptus Sororitas.
Squad Tactica – One of the first podcasts to focus on Kill Team.
WTC Squadcast – A look at the competitive side of 40K from mainly the European perspective. Specifically the World Team Championships (WTC)
3D6 Charge – New competitive podcast
