This time of year is a nice time to be a fan of either 40K or Age of Sigmar. If they know about your addiction, your family most likely will help you increase your pile of shame this time of year. Bonus points if you actually start a whole new army because they bought you some units for an army you didn’t play before. Although many of us have been having a tough year, hopefully Santa had given you something special this Christmas time for your armies. To compare, here is what I got this year for Christmas. Try not to be jealous.
D12 Mug
I actually do partake in the occasional role playing game. I have obviously played DnD but also games like the Robotech, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and some historical based RPGs. I definitely have many D12s available to me but I think I’ll start using this mug as my go to D12. I finish whatever libation I have in it, then proceed to use it for a D12 roll. I fully expect the handle to always show on top, which i will treat as a roll of a “1”. It can also double as a natural disaster or tripped trap as it rolls along the table crushing all petty mortals in it’s way.
Princess Bride Board Game
The game actually looks interesting. I don’t normally play board games in general but I will probably play this one with my family. Mainly because they got it for me. I like the movie a lot and watch it whenever it is on. What’s not to like? It has pirates, swashbuckling, battle of wits, coming back from being only “mostly dead”, storming a castle, and a number of quotable lines that everyone should know and remember. This is actually a step forward as my family usually gets me something more practical, like clothes, so maybe next year I may get something 40k or wargaming related.
Pajamas/Sweatpants
Speaking of clothes, this is something that I get every year from my mom. For some reason she still thinks I need new pajamas or sweatpants. I mean it has been the same gift for maybe 20 years now. I tell her I’m all stocked up but she seems to keep buying them. I mean they are a practical gift but I really do have too many of them. I have to admit, though, that they have become useful recently, thanks to the pandemic and having to work from home. They are now my unofficial work clothes and hopefully we don’t have to go back into the office anytime soon as I would not know how to dress. One side affect to the stretchy clothes, I have noticed, is that my waist has seemed to expand as a result. Curse you delicious holiday food!
