As we have established, I have been playing tabletop games for a long time. Over the years I have collected a lot of models, both big and small. That doesn’t even include non Games Workshop. If you include things like carrying cases, terrain, table, and other products for all the games you play, it easily becomes a mountain of stuff. Sometimes it is hard to fins where to put it all. If you are lucky you have a spare room or garage to put all the stuff in. And sure there is the obvious closet, bookcases or tubs to put your toys in but even with that it may not be enough. This week we will look at other places you can store items for your wargaming needs.
Your Car
This really depends on the size of your car. The larger SUV types have plenty of space for your things. You can make even more space if you get rid of all the chairs in the backseat and even the passenger seat if you really need more space. There are also plenty of storage racks to put on the roof of your car and you can even add a trailer to add even more storage space. If you package your stuff right, you will always have your army with you ready to get on the tabletop in a moment’s notice.
Inside Your Walls
The best thing about this is that you are surrounded by the extra space. Place some well cut access points and you can easily turn the inside of your walls into prime storage space. Depending on the size of your walls, you could easily store just about anything in those walls. This also almost guarantees that, should the worst happen, your house gets robbed then your model collection should be safe. I mean it is more susceptible to any damage to your home from natural and man-made disasters but then that’s what insurance is for, right?
Your Oven
I’m not going to lie, I figure most of you do not cook. In fact, you probably already use your oven to store extra pots and pans, I know I do. What you need to do is get rid of those utensils, you know you’ll never use them. With extra space freed up, you can stock even more models, books, and other stuff in there. Most modern models even have a light you can switch on in order to see what’s inside. You don’t even have to open the door. If you really want to maximize the about of possible storage, then you would also utilize the top of the range. You can easily stack things like books or displays boards on there as high as you can. Just don’t turn on the stove or oven by accident.
