The Warhammer-community team brings us a preview of the new rules for the upcoming Broken Realms boxed set for Age of Sigmar!

Broken Realms: Morathi kicks off an exciting new narrative for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. As well as in-depth lore and background about Morathi’s attempts to achieve godhood, there are new rules for the Daughters of Khaine and some of the armies that are desperately trying to stop her. Today, we’re giving you a sneak peek at some of these exciting abilities.

Daughters of Khaine

The biggest shift for the Daughters of Khaine is the change to Morathi’s warscrolls – we’ll be taking a closer look at those later in the week, but for now, we can share some of the other updates this faction is getting. First up is a new allegiance – Zainthar Kai. For years this temple has been Morathi’s secret weapon, destroying any foe that she wished to be rid of. Mainly populated by Scáthborn, fans of Melusai and Harpies will love its new allegiance abilities, command ability and command trait.

Even better, if your Melusai and Harpies stay close to your Heroes, they get a bonus attack in melee.

Take advantage of these models with the Shrine Brood warscroll battalion, which lets you sacrifice willing warriors to keep your Bloodwrack Shrines fighting at full efficiency.

Use this ability to reclaim wounds on your Shrines and ensure that your enemies feel the full force of your Aura of Agony.

Cities of Sigmar

The Cities of Sigmar will never be the same following Morathi’s actions, and the new Broken Realms books let you field two that have been most affected – Misthåvn, a place regarded as a hive of criminality, vice and deception by the other free cities, and Har Kuron… you’ll have to read the book to learn the story behind this place. Choose Misthåvn and your Heroes will gain access to some of the elixirs that are available in the shadow port.

There are four other Dark Temptations to choose from but we recommend taking Synesthalcum before your Hero charges into battle to make their attacks even more accurate.

Stormcast Eternals

As Sigmar’s empire grows, the way that his Stormcast Eternals wage war changes, focusing more on trying to protect the cities that have been built rather than the shock-and-awe lighting strikes of the past. This has led to the creation of Stormkeeps within the free cities – bases from which the Stormcast Eternals can mount their defences. These Stormkeeps also have great cosmic links that enable reforged warriors to quickly return to action. The Celestial Sentinels within are even known to incorporate the mortal warriors of their city into their armies.

This opens up some amazing tactical and narrative options for your Stormcast Eternals army.

Idoneth Deepkin

The Idoneth are getting updates to a number of their warscrolls, including those for the Akhelian Leviadon, both Eidolons of Mathlann and the Akhelian Allopexes, making them all more attractive choices for your army. Again, we’ll be examining them more closely later in the week, but we can let you know that you’ll be able to take advantage of the Allopexes in a new warscroll battalion.

What’s even better is that, thanks to a series of new themed boxed sets, you’ll be able to easily add this warscroll battalion to your army. It’s not just the Idoneth Deepkin getting one of these boxes, though – the Cities of Sigmar, Stormcast Eternals and the Slaves to Darkness are each receiving a new box that represents a warscroll battalion from Broken Realms: Morathi.

Slaves to Darkness

Speaking of the Slaves to Darkness, they’re seeking to take advantage of the chaos caused in the wake of Morathi. The Broken Realms book lets you take the Idolator keyword when you use the Damned Legions battle trait. These armies represent the ultra-zealous mortal followers of Chaos who specialise in tearing down the idols of false gods,* while their keyword gives you access to a range of new prayers among other benefits.

There are also prayers for Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Chaos Undivided but, as we all know, prayers to the dark gods are not always answered…

That’s just a taste of what can be found within Broken Realms: Morathi. Make sure that you pre-order your copy from Saturday to join in this exciting new Warhammer Age of Sigmar narrative. In the meantime, pick up Morathi herself and get ready to break the Mortal Realms.

* Such as Sigmar. They really aren’t fans of that guy.
