The Warhammer-community team brings us some previews of upcoming GW products!
Next week, we have some big releases for Warhammer Underworlds and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. We also have a range of exciting new books from Black Library. Before we show everything off, let’s check out the highlights.
The Arena of Death
The current season of Warhammer Underworlds comes to a close with Arena Mortis, an exciting expansion that sees between three and six players battle it out with just a single fighter each. Rather than seeking to gain glory by scoring objective cards, Arena Mortis is all about slaying your opponents and, in the arena of death, there can be only one victor.
The expansion features a new double-sided game board, all the tokens that you need to play Arena Mortis, and additional universal upgrade and gambit cards that can be used in your other games of Warhammer Underworlds. If you’re looking for a completely different tactical and deck-building challenge, then Arena Mortis is for you.
The Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game is also getting in on the expansion action with the release of Quest of the Ringbearer. It features 28 Narrative Play Scenarios, starting in Farmer Maggot‘s crop in the Shire, and taking you right through to the (spoiler warning) destruction of the One Ring in the fire of Mount Doom. This supplement will be available in both hardback and ePub versions.
Along with those Scenarios, the new supplement includes rules for combining them in an epic campaign alongside additional rules for building your own Fantasy Fellowship. For example, have you ever wondered what would have happened if Faramir had joined the Fellowship instead of Boromir? Now’s your chance to find out!
With several of the Scenarios set in Moria, we’re also re-releasing the classic Mines of Moria Terrain set so you can perfectly recreate Balin’s Tomb.
The set includes Balin’s Tomb, a well, four pillars, two trap doors, four pieces of scatter terrain, and a sturdy set of doors. We doubt that they’ll be able to keep out a Cave Troll though!
Don’t forget that you can now pick up your Catachan Sergeant “Ripper” Jackson model in Warhammer stores right now.
She’s only available until Sunday the 20th of September, so don’t delay, get down to your local store as soon as possible!
Next week also sees Forge World bringing some reinforcements to the underhive. If you’re a law-abiding gang, you can add Scrutinator-Primus Servalen and her cyber-mastiff KB-88. Servalen comes with plenty of equipment with which to bring justice to Necromunda, while KB-88 can give criminals a nasty surprise with its shock bite.
Also available to pre-order from Friday are two Hangers-on for any gang – the Rogue Doc and Gang Lookout. The Rogue Doc is handy for patching up your badly wounded fighters, and the Gang Lookout helps prevent anyone from sneaking into your base.
Both of these models are also a great base for conversions. We can’t wait to see how you make them fit in with the rest of your gang – make sure that you share your pictures over on the Necromunda Facebook page.
The Siege of Terra continues with the glorious limited edition release of Fury of Magnus. This novella sees Magnus the Red, Primarch of the Thousand Sons, return to seek a fragment of himself that is within the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace. Something tells us it’s not going to be as easy as knocking on the front door and just asking.
If you want to relive the epic civil war that prefaces the Siege of Terra, then five more books of the Horus Heresy series are available in hardback on a Print on Demand basis for one week only. Vulkan Lives sees the Primarch of the Salamanders imprisoned by Konrad Cruze, while The Unremembered Empire focuses on Roboute Guilliman implementing his backup plan after Macragge is cut off from Terra. Scars is the story of Jaghatai Khan finally deciding which side of the civil war his Legion will fight on, and Vengeful Spirit sees Garviel Loken return to the flagship of the Warmaster on a secret mission. Finally, the Damnation of Pythos follows the fate of some of the survivors of Isstvan as they arrive at a seemingly insignificant death world.
A pair of books set in the 41st Millennium make their debuts in paperback format next week. Armageddon Saint sees the (in)famous Last Chancers thrown into another mission with a low chance of success and a high probability of fatality. Can Colonel Schaeffer pull off yet another miracle? Uprising is an anthology of tales set on Necromunda. It includes the novella Low Lives by Denny Flowers and nine other short stories set in the dark heart of the underhive.
Staying in the 41st Millennium, the audiobook of Honour Guard is available to pre-order next week as an mp3. This is book four in the Gaunt’s Ghosts series and it sees the legendary Tanith First sent to a Chaos-held planet to reclaim some holy artefacts. Can they succeed in a race against time?
Finally, there’s a re-release of the legendary Imperial Infantryman’s Handbook. This is the ultimate guide to life in the Astra Militarum and contains everything you need to know to defeat the enemies of Mankind.
