Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to actually talk about some possible scenarios for the future of 40K
Primarchs! They can be the best, and sometimes the worst, thing about the game. If you play 30K you are well aware of the power and majesty of a primarch on the battlefield. Currently we have 3 primarchs in 40K, Gulliman, Mortarion, and Magnus. Each powerful in their own way and capable of dealing a lot of damage to the opposing army. As far as we know there are still plenty of primarchs, both loyal and traitor, that are still out there. We don’t know what has become of them or when they will return. On the flipside we have those primarchs that are confirmed dead and we don’t expect to be coming back. Or do we? This week I want to give a few examples and how they could possibly return to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Konrad Curze
Space Batman was killed by an assassin, some say willfully, at the end of the Horus Heresy. Although there is a short blurb about the encounter in the fluff, nothing in the 40K universe can be taken at face value. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “truth” came out and we find out that he wasn’t really killed by the assassin but faked his death to better instill fear in the citizens of the Imperium. He could easily make a comeback in our current timeline and make an impact. I’m sure many Night Lords players would love to see Space Batman on the tabletop along with his trusted lieutenant, Rikard Greisunz.
Ferrus Mannus
With the rise of the Iron Hands towards the end of 8th edition, how can Ferrus Mannus not come back. Sure he has no head but when has not having a brain stopped anyone? With the help of the mechanicus, they could easily build a new body, or even a new head, for the metallic hands of Ferrus. Even the hands themselves could hold the sentience of Ferrus himself. If that were the case, he could be forming his new body as we speak. He would basically be the T1000 of the 40K universe. Watch out John!
Horus Luprecal
The most important and bestest primarch ever*. Without him there is no heresy. Although killed by the Emperor, there is a way to bring the original Warmaster back. Now some may argue that in the current fluff the Emperor actually obliterated Horus’ soul so there is no way that he could come back. There is really a simple way to bring him back, RETCON! The Siege of Terra series could easily make it so that there is a small chance of Horus coming back in the far future. Kill off Abaddon, sorry Abby you had 13 chances, make a summoning circle, sacrifice some innocents and abracadabra, you now have the primarch of the 16th legion back and better than before. For the Warmaster!
That’s all for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think, and how you think other dead primarchs could come back, in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!

Have the Sanguinor fully evolve into the reincarnation of Sanguinius.
Playing with the Lore is fine, but balancing the model vs sales vs playability on the table is a massive issue.
Guillemann has been repointed several times and nerfed. Mortarion is hardly seen and Magnus is ok for psychic support but rarely wins battles. Remember the Nova 2018 game where Mortarion and Magnus vs 3 smash captains and a knight lost in two rounds ? (It’s on the GW Twitch stream with Frankie and Geoff commentating.)
HH now has most of the Primarchs released in resin .. but sold in very small numbers compared to Guillemann in plastic. They are more for collectors than mass use on the battlefield. GW could just give us rules for 40K but they would have to game-changing for them to sell. I’m not even convinced I’d buy Dorn then for my 40K IF.
I’m more interested in seeing what Bile’s up to… can he create a super-soldier / leader / resurrected Primarch ?
In Master of Mankind, didn’t the Emperor summon a headless warp ghost heavily implied to be Ferrus? If he was summoned, where from? Or do some primarch ghosts go back to the Emperor upon death? Ferrus could become king of machine spirits or something were he to be loosed again. That’d be neat.
In tabletop 40K, 2 of the 4 Chaos powers have a primarch running around. I’m not a prognosticator but GW bringing Angron and Fulgrim back seems to be within the realm of possibility. Since Bobby G is outnumbered 2:1 by Chaos primarchs, maybe a 2nd Loyalist would return to keep the ratio? Of the missing Loyalists, only The Lion’s location has been revealed. Being the finest swordsman in the galaxy would certainly help against Angron and Fulgrim…
If we have many more marine releases, Primarch or otherwise (and I include CSM in this statement) there won’t be any Xenos left and we’ll have truly transitioned into “30k2.0”.q
