    1. Well, Drones not going up in points at all (and Shield Drones only by 50% when other stuff like Webber Neophytes went up by 80+%) is clinically pretty insane given other (weaker) armies (far steeper) price hikes.

      Also Ta’unar, lol.

      1. Tau can be lucky with the big cost roulette from time to time. Since it’s not Imperium neither the playtesters nor GW seem too interested in them anyway.

  1. Wait! Stop the presess! Space Marines are number 1? There must be some mistake! That’s not possible! It can’t be! I’m running out of lame phrases to put exclamation marks after!

      1. Space Marines, with their huge pauldrons, are physically incapable of dabbing.

Aeldari, on the other hand, with their lithe and flexible armor can dab so quickly the lesser races may not even be able to perceive it.

    1. Lol, remember, not too long ago they were largely considered to be one of the worst armies in the game. Their time at the top hasn’t been all that long, honestly. It is annoying all the same I agree, but it’s not a dynasty by any stretch of the imagination.

      1. Which was a false perception though.

Mono-Marines made it into the LVO Shadowround the January before the 2.0 Codex, pre Bolter Drill, Pre Doctirnes, won a few tournaments like the one on Hawai, etc.,. etc..

They weren’t top dog, sure, but Codex 1.0 was actually where the power-level should’ve been. A well-balanced, mid-level Codex.

  2. Miss ya Geoff. I can hear in my head Geoff telling all of you are wrong and the Golden Boys are primed to stay on top and he will drink all the salty tears of those that hold on to the old days of hoard. 😛

  3. Enjoyed this one. Nice to see a take from three groups. In fact it makes for an interesting bit of further analysis by taking the average of the 3 (sorry Skari, next time follow instructions and rank all 24 ya loon).
Rank (based on average rank from Chapter Tactics, Tabletop Titans and Goonhammer)
    1 Space Marines
    1 Death Guard
    3 Adeptus Mechanicus
    4 Custodes
    5 Harlequins
    6 Grey Knights
    6 Adepta Sororitas
    8 Thousand Sons
    9 Eldar
    10 Tau
    10 Astra Militarum
    12 Dark Angels
    13 Chaos Space Marines
    13 Blood Angels
    15 Imperial Knights
    16 Drukhari
    17 Orks
    18 Space Wolves
    19 Tyranids
    19 Deathwatch
    21 Chaos Daemons
    22 Chaos Knights
    23 Necrons
    24 Genestealer Cults

Looking at standard deviation, Thousand Sons were the most contentious pick. I am curious if the GK/1ksons was assuming they still got unmodified smites (which does not appear to be the case). Imperial knights are also fairly contentious here, I am shocked honestly at how high Goonhammer places them. They seem only to look at points costs and 8th ed ranking

    1. We knew that 1k sons choice would be the big shakeup. We think we the right pilots experimenting with lists, they could be just crazy. At the very minimum, much stronger then they were in 8th.

    2. Good to know that out of the 24 factions, 12 of them are imperial -_-
And that’s not even counting agents/inquisition/assassins.

    3. Hey Winter! I like these very much. I think when you average them out these rankings make the most sense. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the episode and give us these rankings.
