GW Grognard: 9th Edition, don’t sell your armies just yet

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about this roller coaster of a game we all love called 40K.

So how is everyone doing? The recent news and tidbits from Games Workshop have really sent some people into a tailspin. For many of you this is the first time seeing a game go through an edition change. For others, you may have gone through an edition for 40K or even another game system so this should be old hat for your. That being said, I’m seeing a lot of people already take extreme views about the rules or come to a conclusion about the game even before seeing the complete sets of rules. I’m here to tell you not to panic.

This happens every edition change, if not every time there is a new codex. People get a small taste of the upcoming rules and they get all bent out of shape. You simply cannot take one sentence from a set of rules and make declarative statements as if they are the be all and end all of that edition or codex. This will cause people to make bad assumptions also and then make bad decisions about their army, like selling it or buying something they think will be good. Not all of us can buy 10 of everything to be sure we can adjust for every situation. People just need to calm down, take a deep breath, and be patient as we get more info anf finally see the rules as a whole. We can then calmly assess how our codex fares with a better understanding. This should help quell the current concerns plaguing out niche community.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t be worried. Change can be stressful at times. It brings something new and different and you are taken out of your comfort level with your army. It may be that your army doesn’t even play the way it used to with all the changes. It can be frustrating to see the things that Games Workshop does to your army and will feel like there really isn’t anything you can do, but there is. You can use this opportunity to learn more about other units from your codex that you rarely, if ever, used. You could also learn new ways of playing your army in order to adapt to all the new changes that are coming. You should see this as an opportunity.

If you are still in despair for your army, well there is not much I can do. What I can do for you though is take that army off your hands and find a good home for it. I will give you a whopping $100 for your whole collection and give it to someone that could really use it, mainly me. I think the price is fair as I will have to redo your army and re purpose it to my aesthetic needs. So bring me your armies and make some cash today!

That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think and how you plan to adapt to some of the new rules we have seen, in the comments section below.
