That blast rule is…I’ll reserve judgment but I don’t love it at this stage. Some of the weapons that will presumably get the “blast” rule are high strength, high-AP, multi-damage. Giving them max shots against units of 11+ means they shine at killing everything, whether big tough models, small elite units, or hordes of basic infantry. I also kind of feel they’ve set the threshold a bit low, a bonus at 6 models and max shots at 11 seems a bit punishing when there are a fair number of units that come with 10 as a minimum size.
It would have been nice to see “machine-gun-like” weapons (heavy bolters, assault cannon, etc) get a bonus against larger units instead, make them feel like they have a proper niche, rather than giving it to weapons that are already good at killing other stuff.
Ah well, I for one embrace our new MSU overlords and look forward to trying an MSU orks army heavy on meganobz, wagons, and walkers for a change. Or a Speed Freaks army. Good stuff.
Any chance you will release a long 6”x44” or whatever flat black mousepad strip to lay on top of your existing 6×4 mats to serve as a frame or border to leave the underlying mat in the new size showing through. Like a mousepad frame broken into 4 parts, two side pieces and to long pieces?
Should we expect the game to not be 6 turns? I can’t recall which edition, but didn’t they used to be 5 turns with a dice roll to go to turn 6 or 7? I know you likely can’t say, but your explanation on CP implied otherwise. Maybe number of turns based on size of game?
Those new sizes are awkward as f. That said Malifaux absolutely convinced me that you don’t need huge tables for great tactical games and I almost wish Infinity had gone down to 3×3. It does require massive adjustment to movement and ranges though and I’m not sure how an edition that just keeps most current books and thus weapon and movement ranges will deal with that.
You don’t really notice the difference that much when playing, honestly.
