GW Grognard: Big Guesses for the Big Reveal

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to add my signal to the noise that is the words of 40K!

Well things seem to be finally moving forward for us to get back to some sense of normalcy, whether you agree on the timing or not. Games Workshop will be starting to take preorders and shipping orders our very soon. More importantly we have more news coming out from the company as to what else to expect from them in the future. This has many of us very excited and speculation among all the groups I belong to are rampant with speculation. In that vein I will be talking about some of what i think the announcements will be. Now remember, I am writing this before the reveal but the article will be live a few hours before. This means that by the time you see this article the everyone will know whatthey are. Be that as it may, it will be interesting what we see and what we don’t, and what things that people have guessed were right.

Return of the Scatter Die

For those that may not know, the scatter die was just that. It had arrows on 4 sides and a target on 2 of them. You rolled it, along with 2d6, to see where your deep strikers landed or where a shot landed. It was very inaccurate and a lot of times fun when your enemies troops would scatter off the table, or on other models, and die. Another fun time is when your shots would land on your own guys instead of the enemy. Games Workshop will announce the return of the scatter die along with a change in the rules that will bring back the random landing of deep strikers, at the very least. Who knows what else they will use the scatter die for. I sure don’t, but I look forward to the drop troops of my enemies to die in the warp when they roll a double “1”.

The Slann Reemerge

Back in the mists of time, the universes of Warhammer Fantasy and 40K kind of mixed. Some people believe that the Warhammer World was in fact a planet that was in the 40K universe. In this era the Slann seemed to be very much a part of both “universes”. In 40K, they had the same Native American look as Fantasy but with the addition of guns and lasers. Returning to rebuild their lost empire, they could easily be another technologicaly advanced race with new eapons and gadgets, or come back as a backwoods type of race looking to reclaim their old technology from those dirty Mechanicus Tech-Priests.

Renegades & Heretics

OK, seriously. I can’t see them not doing this. We already have plenty of units that are ready made for this army. We have the corrupted Commissar, Ogryn bodyguard, and the Traitor Guardsmen, all thanks to the Blackstone Fortress game. The guardsmen alone easily form the core of the army and I am pretty sure Games Workshop has those ready to go. I’ll even take a White Dwarf index just to get me some of those sweet sweet stratagems, warlord traits and relics. I don’t have too much hope on this one though. With my luck they will probably announce a Squats codex instead.

That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think and what attributes you have seen or want for your chaos units, in the comments section below.
