One of the hands down best 40k Video Bat Reps I have ever seen!
The Necrons of the Nihilahk dynasty face off against a Blood Angels force led by Mephiston in this 1750 point showdown. Both armies are painted to a high quality making for a gorgeous battle.
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
Whilst the dice went VERY well for the Necrons I don’t think JP run his Blood Angels very well, both in terms of list building or strategy.
Two redemptors and a repulsor come up to over a third of his points. In taking these he is giving big obvious targets to take out. No one expected a one shot kill from the ark, but still. He should have lost the repulsor and one redemptor, then focused on fleshing out his combat options. Death Company with Astorath would have been potent, maybe even upgrade the chaplain to Lemartes.
With his fame plan he should have been much more aggressive. After talking about aggression in the beginning he held back, allowing a shooting army to whittle away until turn 3, where with only one good combat unit he failed to make a big enough dent. His beatsticks were stuck in his deployment zone until the Necrons warriors approached HIM, and he failed to capitalise on the Sanguinary Guard’s special Rule “Heirs of Azkellon” (possibly spelt wrong!) which gives each model rerolls to hit when within 6″ of the warlord.
When placing units from deep strike you should always place characters first and put the squads around them. The unit charges first, with a single model as close as possible. Now, the squad has taken the overwatch, not had to make a long charge, and each character is still as close as they can possibly be.
Final point, JP doesn’t seem to have any grasp on how to get around overwatch. Suppressors can remove overwatch, you can’t overwatch against a unit you don’t have line of sight on (single characters are very easy to hide, and with jump packs ignore intervening models and vertical distance, so can tie up units before the big charge) and he mentioned a slam captain, who if built the traditional way should have The Angels Wing, which denies overwatch.
I am surprised to see a player who has collected Blood Angels for 25 years play them so poorly! Bad job JP, get up that board and in his face!
Alternatively the Ark might have wiffed, the BA could have gone first, and that Repulsor and those Redemptors could have cleaned house.
That’s the beauty of a dice game
This channel is amazing. Some of the best battle reports available at the moment.
It really is, they do such a good job. If they can sustain this, this type of bat rep is what will help break 40k more into the mainstream as it is so accessible.
BEST batrep ever? Lol hardly. Grim Resolve always has more interesting fluff bouts as do many other channels for WAAC lists. The pawn-stars tv show production values of 40k in 40 seem a bit have a cheap tinge of hubris. And the guy with the hat worn for attention is just infantile.
Fantastic batrep. We can all see and appreciate the time spent editing these.
I also really enjoyed the game involving Ultras v Tyranids that came out prior to this one.
I think these guys have found a sweet spot with their 40k in 40 minutes format in their new season of content.
I prefer this format to the 2 hour reports you usually see. I don’t need to see every single die roll in a game of 40k.
