Hey everyone! Adam here, from TFG Radio, here to talk about the wonderful world of past 40K.
Back in the mists of time, before Games Workshop was the giant it is now, I was able to acquire a copy of the first chaos book, Slaves to Darkness”. In it it detailed rules for daemons for both Warhammer Fantasy, now known as the “World that was” and 40K. They fleshed out a lot of the history of the traitor legions, and a lot of it has not been changed. There were also some chaos attribute and rewards that could be used for both systems. This allowed a chaos warrior in fantasy to miraculously have a bolter. In addition, there was a chart for attributes for chaos weapons and this could also be used for both game systems. All you had to do is roll a D1000. Below are a few of the attributes your might Chaos Weapon could obtain.
Coward
This attribute is just as it says. The sword essentially refuses to fight. You had to make a Willpower roll in order to attack. So if you failed the roll you couldn’t attack with any weapon for that round, not just the chaos weapon that this attribute belonged to. Hopefully you had a high Willpower otherwise you might be in a bad spot. Luckily it allowed you to roll again on the chart. Heaven forbid if this attribute was rolled by a Khorne Chaos Warrior.
Hurling
Want to feel like Thor, the god of thunder? Well then give your new chaos weapon, that happens to be shaped like a hammer, this attribute. Just as the title says, you can hurl your weapon at a target. if it hits, the weapon comes back to your hand. If you happen to miss, however, the target gets a chance to catch the weapon and start using it themselves. That would never happen, right? Now you just need to add a lightening attribute to your new hammer and you are ready to fight for the All-Father, I mean Khorne,
Glittering
Want to show off your new chaos weapon to friends and foes alike? This attribute will definitely help you accomplish that. The highly polished blade will easily bedazzle your opponents. It will cause them to be so enthralled with the beauty of the weapon that their weapon skill will decrease to a minimum of one. How much easier can it get to beat your enemy down as they gaze upon the enchanted beauty of your deadly weapon.
Flight
This is just as it says. This ability allows the user to fly. it can very useful for scouting and especially if you need to make a quick escape. Its not as flashy as some of the other attributes but it can be very useful even outside of combat. You can combine this with hurl to further your Thor cosplay/fetish.
That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think and what attributes you have seen for chaos weapons, in the comments section below.
