GW Grognard: What’s my next army?

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to help take you out of the doldrums that is quarantine.

Having a lot of time on my hands, I have been doing a lot of thinking. I have been spending a lot of time looking at the various 40K armies as well as looking at the armies I have. I am currently building my Sisters of Battle army but I am always on the look out for another army to build. I have a fair number of Armies from the Imperium and Forces of Chaos. I’m not sure what else I want to build. There are a few possibilities for factions to play, so here are a few that I have thought about and the probability of playing that army. Please note that although I do want to compete, I have no delusions of actually doing really well.

Eldar

I do have a few Eldar models. I have always had a hatred for Eldar, and Elves in general no matter the game system. they are a very annoying army to play against and, depending on the build, can be a difficult army to play. I like some of the models and really don’t mind playing the army. Although we have a player or two in our club, I feel that having an Eldar army would help our club gain more experience against the army because the players we do have are not available on a regular basis. depending on the meta, this could really help our club out.

Tau

I like robot. I’m a big Gundam fan and watch as much robot show as possible. You would think that Tau would be right up my alley but they never really jumped out to me. i would prefer my current knight army or even a robot heavy Admech force. The current meta of the drone heavy army also turns me off. My club has enough Tau players but I sometimes look at the robots and sigh. Additionally, i am already hated for other reasons, I don’t need to add the fact of being a Tau player to that.

Orks

I had an Ork army back in 3rd/4th edition. I loved the army and the wackiness that it had been given by Games Workshop. Now it wasn’t as crazy as the early days of Rogue trader or even 2nd edition but it was still fun to play. With the new rules from Saga of the Beast, the army really looks like fun to play again. The only downside for is really the number of models needed for the army. i don’t know if I have the back to play the army over a tournament. Movement trays would help but I’m not sure I even want to try it. Mt back is aching just thinking about it (or it could be that I need a new office chair).

That’s all for this week. i hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think and what army you think I should build next, in the comments section below.
